I bought the Everlast Spas 80-Jet Expression hot-tub from samsclub.com. Delivery in about 6 weeks which was one week before the original expected delivery date so that was great. Get the hot tub set up, electrician fills it up to make sure it was working... seems to be working great, looks good, jets are pretty nice (good for price range). BUT, when I finally got the 'basket' above the filter out, I found a very old looking, very filthy used filter in the tub - see pictures. It took me an extra day to get the basket out because I was concerned about breaking something - had to pry it out with pliers, as instructed by customer service. I've learned since that this is fairly normal for the basket to be stuck from the water circulation pushing it down but this is my first hot tub so I didn't know.
Attached are pictures of the filter. Our tub had turned green and had nasty bubbles before we ever were able to use it. Seriously, unbelievable. I called the manufacturer's customer service upon finding the filter (I had already talked to them asking about how to install the filter/get the basket out), the person I spoke to said they would likely send me a new hot tub. I thought, what a pain, but at least they are going to fix it. But then I got an email saying the manager says the hot tub was 'water tested' and that is why the filter was in there and they just forgot to take it out. I appreciate they test it before shipping, but they use this nasty filter? I am at a loss - moldy, crazy dirty, old-looking filter in my hot-tub and we ran water through it for 30+ hours before being able to remove it, plus whatever time they 'water tested' it. Now I don't know if mold and grime are in the pipes etc. I had to drain the water before ever using it, which as other reviewers have noted is no easy task getting in the service side of the tub - I wondered if they sent me a used hot tub, and still do, but the service side seemed like it was brand new. The manager sent us a new $10 filter - again, seriously. I cannot recommend this manufacturer - Strong Spas is the manufacturer, Everlast is the brand name. Buyer beware, something is completely off with a company that would put this filter in their hot tubs before delivery, not to mention refuse to do anything about it when they realized they had left it in the tub for delivery.
