Fantastic with one exception

We switched from Amazon sticks to Roku sticks at the first of the year and it's been a fantastic move. The Roku interface is so much better than Amazon's, plus we don't have annoying ads all the time and the apps we use the most don't stick and glitch like they do on the other stick. So when we had the opportunity to upgrade our main entertainment room to this device, we took it. It's a great device and I highly recommend it. The only problem we've had has to do with the remote. I was looking forward to using the remote because of the two programmable buttons and because of the ability to use headphones through it and because it was rechargeable rather than battery operated. However, we are unable to use it because it will not control the volume and power on our stereo receiver like the other remote did. So I'm having to use the old remote with the new Roku device. I know that if you research it, every website I can find says that Roku remote do not control receivers. However, I have found that not to be true. The remote for the 4K stick that we have absolutely controls the volume of our Sony receiver. I tried several different workarounds for the new remote and none of them worked. So last we have a very powerful device that we love, but the very reason we bought it, which was the remote, we cannot use. Most of my friends all have their sound running through a stereo system in their main entertainment room. For us, we use a projector and a screen, so a soundbar wouldn't even work there. It astounds me that a product is great as Roku has not yet figured out how to make their remote controls compatible with stereo receivers.

Great streaming device!

We just left our cable service provider and are now using a streaming service. We decided to purchase a ROKU ULTRA based upon our research and we are very happy with it. In fact, we recently purchased our second one. It's great to take along on extended vacations in order to access all of our services remotely. ROKU has really improved our TV watching experience!

Disappointing

I replaced my older roku with this a little over a year ago for the hdr support and within the last few months have been having several issues. The stereo frequently won't turn on when I power up. The sound will just go out after watching for a while. I have to reboot to recover. Occasionally, I'll get a loud buzzing and no sound. Again, I have to reboot to recover. Frequently the volume control will work for about 4 clicks and then stop. I have to let the remote rest before it starts working again. Got fed up and reconnected my old Roku.

Roku Ultra HD 4K HDR: Easy & Excellent

We recently got 2 new 4K UHD TVs. The TVs they replaced both had Roku built-in, but the new TVs did not have Roku built-in. Purchased 2 Roku Ultra HD 4K HDR units that connect to the TV via HDMI. The Roku Ultra's solved the problem (of not having Roku), and they seem to be better and more complete than the built-in Roku's. For example, the units can receive Roku software updates over the internet, which was not the case with the old TVs where the Roku was buitl-in. Overall, an excellent product that evidently can work well with any TV that has an open 4K HDMI port.

4802R even better than the 4800X

I thought the 4802 would be nothing more than a 4800 with with an upgraded remote. Not so. The 4800 had some annoying glitches, those are gone in the 4802. The 4802 does seem to be faster, plus some other changes. I'm quite happy with this new model. I only wish I could've bought it for the lower price, oh well can't have it all I guess.

Very good product, easy to setup and use.

I am not a big TV fan, just watch new and mostly 2 or 3 channels and cable cost was too much. Finally, I cut the cord and cancelled the cable subscription. Bought two Roku Ultimate for my 2 TVs. Setup was very easy, works great and no issues. I can watch my few channels and very happy with Roku. Should have made the switch years ago.

Roku Ultra

I bought the Roku Ultra and love it. It was easy to set up and I love the platform. I love the remote control but wish it was lighted for use at night time when your room is dark. Also wish you could load apps from Google Play Store. Still, I recommend this Roku Ultra. Thanks!

Profound performance improvement over old Roku 2

The new Roku ultra has much better performance than old Roku 2. Improved picture quality, improved private listening through the remote that is now rechargeable. Old Roku 2 ate batteries like crazy using headphones. Overall I have nothing but perfect performance of the new ultra model

Great solution for my projector

I was using my iPhone and a HDMI adapter to feed my projector. Bluetooth would power my soundbar. The room was a 3 season porch with no cable. I hated having my iPhone tethered to the projector. It was clumsy to change apps and the WiFi was not always steady. The Roku Ultra took over the HDMI connection. Yes I still needed to power my soundbar via my iPhone but that was easily done through the Roku app. The Roku interface is much easier to navigate and you could do it through the app or the included remote. And the WiFi has been flawless so far. The Ultra, for the most part, performs like a cable box. Love it!

Not for older TVs

I have top of the line home theater products, including Bravia TV, Denon Amplifier and Klipsch speakers. During setup, the Roku could not identify my TVs resolution, so the Roku defaults to 720 (my TV does 1080p.) There is no way to set the resolution on the Roku. If the Roku can't identify your TV, then you're stuck with 720 resolution and you've just wasted your money.
