This product is absolutely amazing!! I received a free sample to try, in exchange for my honest opinion. I could smell the wonderful scent as soon as I opened the box, there was no need to open the package. I used it in a load of towels, just sprinkled it in the bottom of the washer before adding the towels. I chose to try it in the towels because they are pretty old, and were getting a musty smell. I was amazed at how soft my towels came out, and the scent had gone from musty to really pleasant, and the scent lasted until we got around to using our towels! I have tried many other products and home remedies, but nothing compares to Downy! I will definitely be buying this product to use with every wash! Thanks Downy!

I thought I was going to have to wash some nasty towels a few times for them to ever smell good again. Then I got these in the mail and tried them out. One and done my towels smell great. I love the April fresh scent so much I cut into the side of one pack and Hung it in the closet so everything in there smells great now too . Generally I do not use Downy products due to past experiences that caused stains on clothing, however, these odor shield beads are amazing. From the moment I opened them I could smell the freshness and it lasted from wash through dry. I chose to try it out on our sheets because detergent alone does not get through the sweat smell. This is heavenly!! My clothes not only came out smelling fresh but the best part was when I opened my drawers and they still smelled fresh days later!! Not only that, but, they are so easy to use. I received Downy Fresh Protect Beads from Influenster free to test, but this opinion is ALL MINE!

I used these beads on a few loads of laundry. It smells nice (it smells like laundry softener to me, which I don't currently use), and continued to keep smelling that way after a dry cycle. They're also kind of hard to use in a front-load washer. You can't put it in the detergent dispenser, and in sprinkling it on my clothes inside the washer, some beads always inevitably fell out, and after the the washer was done there were some undissolved beads that got stuck in between the door and the rubber lining the washer. Our clothes aren't particularly smelly, so it's hard for me to judge its value in removing odor, but if you want to give your laundry and extra dose of pleasantness you can try them out. I've been wanting to try a product like this for awhile now. It was easy to use and didn't react funny with my detergent or clothes. It definitely adds a pleasant scent but is not overpowering. In the area of my clothes that tend to get an odor the most (aka armpits) there is only a scent of the downy April fresh. I received this product free to try and give my opinion. Verdict is I would purchase on my own!

I tested Downy on my 'junk' towels and on a load of laundry. I felt the scent was a little overwhelming for everyday use. If you enjoy heavy scents then you'd probably like this. I, personally, wouldn't wear clothing washed with this additive. I did like it for our junk laundry (i.e. towels we use to dry the dog after a bath) and I might use it on the future for washing throw rugs and blankets and other pieces of household laundry. It does exactly what it advertises, it was just a little strong for my taste. I might also consider using half the recommended amount.
