Best unstudded ice racing tyre

We use this tyre for racing sno-drift rally during icy years. We use a tyre shredder to open up the tread a bit and they are unbeatable on ice (exept compared to studded tyres) Deep snow the choice was Yokohama’s A034 but they no longer make them so we would cut out some of the tread block to help clear snow. Such a useful and adaptable tyre. Best road legal snow tyre for Michigan, I run them on my 2wd 911 daily driver and they have never let me down.

Don’t get X-Ice winters if you’re a performance car enthusiast

After having owned several generations of the Pilot Sport Alpin, my tire dealer only had the X-Ice Snows available this time. They’re great in the snow and wet, but REALLY annoying in dry handling, in that they make a lot of noise above maybe 0.3g. The Alpins NEVER exhibited this characteristic….

Impressive tire

Use them for a winter season on a Tesla Mode 3 RWD. I am used to the X-Ice on a different car. They improved the traction on snow vs X-Ice significantly and the grip on ice is still very good. I noticed a bit tire noise between 50-70kmh (specially with an EV car) but they are impressively quiet at highway speed.

Not Satisfied

I had heard about Michelin a lot from my friends, and based on their advice, I bought a new set last month. I feel they are fine for snow but not for icy conditions in Edmonton or Alberta, especially when your car is not an SUV or all-wheel drive. So, I will not recommend this set of tires for small cars.

Excellent

These tires are simply amazing. They are worth every penny that I spent on them. Also, I have 100% confidence in my driving with these tires in this weather. I live in Duluth Minnesota and these tires are much needed in the winter. I appreciate the quality of these particular tires, I will recommend these to friends and family and always buy these tires whenever I need them

X-ICE SNOW TIRE

I purchased these tires in December to replace the supplied mud & Snow tires on my new Rave4. These tires ride much smother than the Mud&Snow tires and were great on ice and snow over the whole winter in Manitoba. I will be keeping these tires over the full year even though they may ware a little more during the summer months. My first ice and snow tires on my old Montana lasted 90,000 km year round before getting to the wear mark.

Excellent Snow Tires

I have purchased this brand of snow tires for the past twelve years for all of my automobiles. I believe this is my fifth set. Snow tires are so important for winter driving. Yes expensive, but really how much does an accident cost? Everyone spends so much money on 4X4s or AWD, but getting stuck does not usually cause an accident, not being able to stop does cause the accident. People would be money ahead to invest in snow tires. Excellent tires/product.

Works well in Alaska

After purchasing these tires for the Alaskan winter, I am very pleased. First off, the tires are very quiet, and there is no noticeable power loss from my all seasons. The tread pattern also handles slush with ease. I have made several drives along the Alcan and the numbered roads in Alaska and I can say I prefer a snow and ice covered highway with these tires than dry tarmac because the former is more smooth, and these tires have great grip on ice. I also have driven in 4 and 5 inch snow on the road and I had no trouble with grip, once again the tread pattern works wonders. Too be fair this is the only set of dedicated snow tires I've ever owned, but I will not hesitate to buy these again.

Disappointed in ice capabilities.

I had this winter tires since early 2022 put on my 2020 forester however they performed poorly on ice fish tailed twice even when driving slowly in intersections. I have lost confidence with this set. 225/60/R17 on a forester 2025 I bet the oem tires would have performed better on ice. Very disappointed although it is good on deep snow and dry conditions apart from that stay away from this. They marketed this tire that it will perform on ice hence the name x-ice but does not live to its name. Note: tires not even that much worn out.

I have used these tires for years

I have put these snows on all my vehicles and recommended them to friends for over 15 years. I previously used Nokia, but these are better. As the name suggests, they are optimized for ice, slush, and moderate snow. So for the average urban dweller, they are outstanding. I notice little difference between these and my summer tires. Winter doesn't bother them. The only caveat is if you live in the snow belt: there are better choices for deep snow.
