I had never had arepas  before, only heard about them, so didn't have anything to compare them to. But I thought they were delicious & really versatile. The first time I made them I fried them in a cast iron skillet over medium heat 3 minutes per side, following the package directions. They were good but not super crispy. The next time I put a little butter in the skillet & after preheating, cooked them over low heat 6 min. per side & they were crisp & the cheese was melted perfectly. Then the fun began. The dough is a little sweet so I just keep experimenting with different fillings, both savory & sweet. That's why I say they're so versatile. My favorites so far have been pork carnitas with guacamole & for sweet, drizzled with honey & sprinkled with cinnamon. They're an inexpensive, quick to fix meal that never have to be the same way twice.

Very versatile

These are delicious and really have a great authentic Colombian flavor. I put them on the skillet at 350 degrees for about 3 min and they are nice and toasted.  Perfect compliment with the Pan de Bonos Sam's club also has. The cheese is also tasty, not that fake mozzarella taste you might think.

These are absolutely delicious and filling! They are not meant to be fried, just throw them on a nonstick pan.  They do take longer than the suggested time to get soft and have the cheese fully melted. I wish Sam's would keep these in stock!

Tastes good, but it is so thick, I felt really stuffed after just a few bites. Since they are so thick, they come out really greasy too when you fry them. Might need to try with an air fryer.
