These dish towels, often referred to as flour sack towels, come in a set of 12. Flour sack dish towels are called "flour sack" because they are modeled after the thin woven cotton bags that flour and grains used to be packed in, which were then re-used as towels. The thin cotton yarn and looser weave make for a towel that is extra soft and absorbent. New flour sack towels may not seem very soft at first, so just wash them before you use them to get rid of some stiffness. The more you use them and wash them, the softer they will get!
