We just purchased this printer for printing Church bulletins. Since I personally have owned this same model of printer for almost a year, I felt the tank printer would best serve our purposes and be most cost effective. 
The printer seems to be durable. My printer has preformed well for a year and we expect the same from this new one

Well made and money saving printer

Epson Eco Tank 3850 is unmatched in versatility with both color/ black and white double-sided printing.  This is our second Eco Tank owned in 4 years of printing,  we upgraded units and gave our first one to a friend for schoolwork. We mostly print laptops but have used the app from our cell and it works flawlessly.  I really enjoy it and never see myself switching to another brand, kind or type of printer again.

Fantastic Purchase

A more technologically qualified friend recommended it and the EPSON ET-3850 is competitively priced and it does it all: scan, copy and print. For your home, school assignments or office it delivers professional quality duplication and the eco tank ink refills are less expensive than the cartridges other brands require. The EPSON ET-3850 was great choice for us.

The EPSON ET-3850 does it all.

It is not possible to assign a fixed IP address to this printer.  All the HP, Canon, and Brother printers I have owned, which had network capabilities, had simple procedures to assign an IP adx.  This does not, which is a significant shortcoming, unless you have some sort of new-fangled router which allows you to manually associate a device's mac address with a specific IP adx.  It's print quality is as expected and scans are good quality.  I love the ink tank concept.  I expect this will be the most economical inkjet printer I have owned.

Love the ink tanks

The printer is ok. Printing is faster than my old one. It’s also quieter. My issue is there were no instructions on how to use the printer and the buttons for action have symbols not words. The second issue it prints from known files but not my phone where I want to print items sent by email. I’m trying to adjust to it.

Printer is OK but …

Setup was easy. Lot’s of ink with the Sam’s Club package but the resolution in these ecotank printers is a step backwards from my previous 6 year old Epson printer. My customer documents used to look professional but with this printer my business documents look amateurish. I’m just talking text, not graphics.

Sacrifice resolution for ink savings

I’ve used HP ink jets for the last 10 years and this Epson does not come close to the print quality.  I’m keeping it but pictures are washed out and the text is not as good.  Plus if you want to scan, you need to use an app.  Maybe it just doesn’t like working in an Apple atmosphere.

Not overly pleased

Awful experience, Printer was sent in an old dilapidated brown cardboard box, just thrown in like a pile of junk. Ink cartridges were strewn in bottom of box along with chunks of Styrofoam, brown crumpled up paper, how anyone would send a $400 piece of equipment to anyone like this is beyond me.    As for the printer could not get it to Work ( surprise ) so unable to rate. Complained to Sam's they sent me a return label and it was returned in the same box I received it in.

Bad experience

Very disappointed! Scanning and copy quality is not crisp and clear. After scanning or copying a crisp document, you cannot read text with light background shading. The text is blurred and darker. Even regular text comes out blurry.     If you are looking for a printer that scans 2-sided to print 2-sided this is not the printer.  Duplex printing is only printing or copying 1-sided to 2-sided. 
   One star is because it does work but very poorly. We are returning the printer to go back to Brother printers that we've used for decades. Hopefully Brother printers has not lost it's crisp clear scanning without any adjustments out of the box.

Poor scan and copy quality - not crisp and clear

Got it operating for a few hours then had it freeze with “scanner error 100016”. Online help finally told me to insert the disk, but no disk was with it. Had to go to Facebook to send a message and was told to call their helpline which I had tried and was referred to their website and told to call back later. I returned the printer out of frustration.
