We have used Swann cameras at our home for the past 10 years. This year we decided to upgrade to a 4K system and found this offer on the Walmart website priced almost too good to be true at $475, marked down from $899. The exact same system on the Swann website is $1499! When we received our package and started opening everything up we were so impressed. It came with everything as advertised and the 2 way mic system is amazing, the color at night feature is awesome. It was easy to install and easy to use. We are very happy with our new camera system.

Easy install. Decent cameras. Playback mode isn’t the best if you want to scan through a timeline, because it breaks everything into small segments. Lots of motion alerts if you like that. Audio capture is nice, but could be a privacy concern.

Bought this last night, installed most of it today. The spot lights do not automatically come on with motion. You can manually turn it on but will not activate with motion which is annoying.

Lights have to be turned on manually not autpmatic

Analytics that led me to pay for such an expensive solution don't work, at all.  The system won't even allow me to enable those featrures.

NOT AS ADVERTISED.

If you want to use this for any kind of advanced usage, such as viewing on multiple desktop computers this isn't for you.  Swann's VMS desktop software is atrocious.  Who wants a program with zero customization?  It's bright white, a quarter of my screen is the tab with the cameras that I can't resize, and the navigation is just awful.  On another note, who doesn't allow me to zoom the camera when I click the magnifying icon to zoom the camera and can't just scroll my mouse wheel?  What?  I have to click and drag a square over the area I want.  Has anyone who created this actually tried to use it?  Seems not.

If you want to use this remotely, as in view this outside of your home, you cannot simply connect via your IP address.  You have to use the Swann P2P service and relay through their servers.  No.  I don't want my camera streams going through your servers.  I called support and was told there was no other way to add it to the app on my phone.  Also, just to open the app to find this out I had to create an account I didn't want.

I wanted this to be good.  I bought this and the 4 camera pan & tilt add on to go with it.  All being returned.  I have had multiple systems by Lorex and are vastly superior to this.  I simply use my IP address, the user name and password I created on the system and like magic all my cameras anywhere on the planet I have internet.

Not good for an anything other than basic

I bought these cameras since they had nice reviews and needed a total of 8 cameras. Its been a year and I’ve had to replace 3 cameras already. 1 was replaced before installing it because it had blurry image. The second time was after a couple months and it had blurry image. The third time was replaced after 9 months because the LED LIGHT just gave up. This morning my hard disk is having issues. This is a 1 year old unit, which it’s been just faulty cameras and dvr.

Do not buy this.

I bought this system last year, and it lasted a few months.  It did work great while it lasted, so I bought the exact same system on January 26th, 2024, about six weeks ago.  First one camera went out after about 4 weeks.  It looked burnt at the ethernet cable.  I had to replace the ethernet cable and the camera.  Then it happened to another camera the same week.  Then it happened to another camera.  I called Swann and they had no explanation and hadn't heard of that happening before.  They did say the cameras weren't supposed to be in sunlight.  That's rediculous.  3 days ago, all of the cameras stopped working around midnight.  I called customer support and they had me test every camera in ports 9 and 10.  A very long process.  They determined ports 1 to 8 out of 16 ports were bad.  Pretty sad that a $900 NVR system doesn't even last 6 weeks weeks.  I had used an Amcrest system before this one, and it wasted YEARS.  I would strongly recommend not buying a Swann system.

Avoid at all costs.  Didn't even last 6 weeks.

I bought this system and it was the worst mistake I've made.  Unless your a security system expert or don't mind spending hundreds of dollars for answers. I truly don't believe that this company has any technical, or consumer service employees.  Tried numerous times to contact "anybody". NOTHING,  This so called company is more than likely a "dropshipping" enterprise run by one person, with orders fulfilled by the chinese.
