We've had LG Brand washer and dryers for over 35 years.   This is our 3rd set.  The last set lasted 16yrs!

LG is the most reliable brand!

Thanks so much LG for the WM5500HVA Washer and matching electric dryer in Graphite Steel! Most all high end washers are now 5.0 cu. ft or bigger. We do not have the depth to accommodate a washer that big, but still wanted all of the high end features of the large flagship washers. LG is the only manufacturer that has a high end 4.5 cu ft unit.

Great machine, super quiet operation, and functions perfectly.

Perfect Laundry machine!

Bought this set to replace a WM3770H and DLEX3570 washer/dryer set. I liked that pair, but the washer suffered a premature bearing failure, and I took the gamble to try LG a second time despite that.

This set is a HUGE improvement, and not just because of the move up from 2 to 5 "turbowash" jets. The number of available wash programs, the ability to edit which ones are visible, the "wash prioritization" feature that reshuffles the order of the programs based on frequency of usage are all gigantic steps up. LG has also opened up the option list a lot as well (e.g., "Extra hot" temp was previously only available on the "Sanitize" cycle. Now I can add it to most cycles, including "Heavy Duty." This is super good for flexibility). Almost all cycles have the ability to add up to three extra rinses now, for a total of four! Huge improvement for sensitive skin!

I personally also like the new control panel - all touch sensitive. The small screen inside the selector dial is a nice touch. There are no physical buttons anymore. And the drum has a light now! You have to scroll through a few options to turn it on manually, but this doesn't bother me much.

On the dryer, the drum is now stainless too! On my old set the washer was, but dryer drum was painted steel. Another big improvement!

A few areas that could be improved: despite having the same 4.5 cu. ft. interior space, the cabinet on this one takes up a noticeable amount of additional space. It may not matter to you, but my laundry room is very small and it's obvious. 

I wish there was a "brightness" setting to the control panel. It's not too bad, but in daylight can be tough to read (I have a large window in said laundry room). Touch settings that are available but not active are lit very dimply, and difficult to see in some cases.

And one major misstep: I think that as a result of people complaining about a small amount of water left in the liquid detergent cup LG now has molded a pinhole into the bottom. This was NOT a well thought out solution, because thinner detergents (i.e., most plant-based ones) drain out as fast as you pour them in. Obviously, this has no impact on powdered detergents (I use both), but after talking to LG customer care there seems to be no plan to correct this, so I ended up putting a drop of glue over the hole. Now I am back to a bit of clear water left in the detergent cup after a wash, but I never considered this a big deal in the first place, so who cares? At least now my liquids detergents don't immediately drain out.

Despite the few goofs this set is definitely an improvement for LG and looks and feels far more "premium" than older LG sets.

Overall excellent washer - with a few missteps

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought washer a week ago and love the features on it. Going back to order the matching dryer.  Appreciate the quality in LG. My other washer n dryer were LG and had them close to 10 years with only 1 or 2 minor repairs.

We've been using the washer and dryer set for over a month and love them! The washer is so quiet, fast, and the clothes seem to be even cleaner than what the old washer has able to wash! This washer doesn't vibrate like the old washer did with some loads. Didn't need to get any isolation pads like I had with the old washer! My wife was a little uncertain about using the single dial, but now she loves it!

Very nice washer-dryer set

My first thought about a washer with wifi, was, "Why, why would I need this, why would I want this?"  I bought it anyway because of the beautiful, modern and sleek look to it and my previous washer was an LG which I had a long, very good experience with, so I wanted another LG.  This works as good, if not better than my previous washer and I do use the wifi.  The LG ThinQ app lets me know how much time is left, when to run a clean cycle, clean the lint filter and sends an alert to my phone when it's finished, among many other useful features.  When not in use, the washer's digital display shows the date and time.  I also bought the matching front load dryer and the matching pedestals to complete the look and functionality.  It's a beautiful looking and beautiful working machine!

I brought this item about a month ago and really enjoys the different features that this machine offers. I love the end of the cycle paying music. I love the app on the phone that informs you when the wash is completed, when you need to do an update, etc. overall I am enjoying this washer.

Great washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Washer has great cleaning performance.  The noise level is fine - especially since my laundry area is open to the kitchen.  I mainly hear it when its spinning, but it's not that loud/doesn't bother me (expecting no noise is not realistic).  I think my prior Bosch machine was louder.  So far, love it!

Noise level, cleaning performance and capacity!

I bought the LG  machine about a month ago. The reason for purchasing a new washing machine was that our previous similar LG washing machine that was in good working shape had a health hazard mold problems. We had maintained our washing machine per LG's recommendations, using the correct front load soap, using the cleaning cycle once a month, etc. Other brands have vented washers that eliminate the mold problem. Unfortunately for us, we were stuck purchasing another LG washing machine due to dimensions When remodeling our Laundry Room, we were under the false illusion that most washer/dryers are the same size.  Well, got that wrong so we are stuck with LG , until we do some minor remodel work......Recommend and frontload machine that is vented. Maybe LG will join  the ventible washing machines some day.
