LEGO at its Finest.

I can always appreciate another classic pirated ship, I grew up with the El dorado fortress and Black seas Baracuda, and this would have been a fine model to get as a kid too, so I hope parents see the value. The shape of the hull is well designed and the star of the show is the octopus which is perfectly optimized and is amazing how little bits of plastic shapes can make such a fun character. Up next? a Kraken knights ship with tentacle? Which that question is the awaiting for.... especially in the pirates line there is a missing hole right now of an imperial ship to defend the El Dorado Fortress remake from the other 3n1 pirated ship. Which both are great in their own sakes, though this new one is a simpler aesthetic and color Scheme. Which is fine to have different pirated ships like this one, I really appreciate it, but without an imperial ship I had to make it into a Clipper remake. So now I feel like I have a complete collection of a theme all together (ok well a treasure island would be appropriate), though I could use some more men to maintain the fortress and ship. I sure do hope more ships including merchant ones come out to fill in the gaps to build a world. As the original sets were my more played with and most stayed together sets of childhood. Anything in the classic Pirate, Castle, Space theme is a rare gem but is the soul of the brand. I would much rather have fun little ships like this than the big display ones, there are so many fun themes to pursue at this scale.

The best pirate related set exists!

If you are like me, you know what the old legos looked like. I know it might not have been intentional, but this 3-in-1 set, featuring creative play and bricks to rebuild, brought me a sense of nostalgia. It is the best description of fun packed in a set. You guys have got to buy this because personally, I enjoyed it! Even the octopus is cute.

Best set this year!

As a child, I collected pirate sets and held onto them. I gave my daughter this set. She chose to build the hideout since she has a ship from my collection. She dumped all the bags and rummaged through, using the box to store the pieces. It reminded me when I was a child. It took her four or five hours to build it. And she is having a blast adventuring in the hideout. With the several extra pieces she even made a small boat. This is by far, the best set we've gotten so far this year.
