Serving

Bring Guinness and share a pint with your friends at your next party, barbecue, or celebration. Plus, elevate your cooking by using it as a marinade, or add as an intriguing ingredient to your favorite meal or dessert.

Pouring Technique

Guinness Draught is served using our famous 'two-part' pour. For a perfect pour every time, just chill and pour into a glass at 45 degrees until it’s three-quarters full, then let the surge settle before filling to the top.

Vegan Friendly

Yes, our new state-of-the-art filtration process has removed the use of isinglass as a means of filtration and therefore made the ingredients in Guinness Draught, Guinness Extra Stout and Guinness Foreign Extra Stout suitable for vegans.

History

Guinness Draught in fact was only brewed for the first time in 1959 to celebrate the 200-year anniversary since Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on St. James’s Gate Brewery. Good man Arthur, he clearly knew a good thing when he saw it! Arthur Guinness was the first in a long line of Guinness Master Brewers and the craft of brewing at St. James’s Gate Brewery was handed down from generation to generation. The Guinness family were in search of a symbol that would firmly identify Guinness as an Irish product and the harp was recognized as the symbol of all that was great about Irish culture and heritage. It’s the official national emblem of Ireland.

Sustainability

Guinness is working with Irish farmers to define the most effective regenerative agriculture practices, adapted to the local context and the specific needs of Irish barley production.

There are five key outcomes that this three-year pilot aims to achieve:

  1. Improvements in soil health and its carbon sequestration potential
  2. Enhanced biodiversity
  3. Reduction in synthetic fertilizer use
  4. Enhanced water quality
  5. Improved farm profitability and farmer livelihoods

A digital management system, coupled with remote sensing monitoring, is being used to help co-ordinate field operations such as soil testing, yield monitoring and cover crop assessment on participating farms. More than 7 tons of cover crop seed have been planted. Cover crops are mixtures of biodiverse teams of beneficial plants that are grown in the gap between harvesting one crop and planting another. Their purpose is to protect and improve soil health by recycling nutrients. Baselining farms is also underway on participating farms. A methodology that uses a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) tool to measure the current carbon footprint of producing barley on the farm and taking very detailed soil samples to assess soil health, soil organic carbon and the soil nutrient status.

Rich and Dark

It has this incredibly smooth and creamy texture that is unlike any other beer I’ve ever had, and that thick, beautiful foam on top just makes it feel like a real experience.
