I am a home automation and security enthusiast and I wanted to write a review because I'm shocked by the negative reviews on here and feel the need to comment.  I have first hand experience with other systems: Amcrest wireless with NVR recorder, EverFocus, and Samsung wireless ProHD.  EverFocus is the brand I have at my business and it is solidly reliable and commercial grade.  But because it is commercial grade it took an IT expert onsite to set it up to the network for mobile viewing and DVR recording.  The menus are not intuitive and extremely difficult to set up motion zones, sensitivity, recording schedules, etc.  Amcrest worked fine, but for security purposes I discovered that wireless is not a good option.  Even though the NVR and the cameras are on static IP addresses, the devices occasionally have to be reset in order to reconnect.  As for the best of all in my opinion: This Samsung wired 4MP kit:
The kit is extremely straightforward to set up.  It does take a handy person to set it up and it definitely helps to have a home/office that has easy access to attic space, drop ceilings, etc otherwise you'll need to be doing drywall work in order to fish cable through walls.  Once it's installed, you'll find that the menus are intuitive and easy to configure.  I have no complaints about the WiseView app that is for mobile viewing purposes. I was initially concerned being that it doesn't have Samsung's name brand on it, but it is quite functional.  The cameras are great.  Can read license plates and see peoples' facial features just fine.  I do agree with one aspect of another negative review in that the IR LEDs used for night-vision only light up a relatively narrow beam in the center of the viewing area; however, keep in mind that these cameras have a very wide viewing angle, 105 degrees whereas most other cameras have between 72 and 90 degrees.  Also, the cooling fans are relatively loud in this unit, but DVRs are best located in a closet, basement, or SECURE place that is rarely used.  I don't know why another reviewer would place this in his bedroom...  I have mine on a shelf in the unfinished part of my basement tucked away because it was easy to route cables from the basement into the garage and straight up to the attic from the garage.  In closing, if you looking at this surveillance system then it can be assumed you want something more reliable than wireless cameras like the Nest or Arlo.  If you put this unit on a battery back-up then you'll have an extremely reliable camera system with no ongoing costs for cloud storage and it won't bog down your internet by constantly streaming across the internet.  I would absolutely recommend this system to others and I would recommend just about ANY wired system over wireless if it can be avoided!

Tech-Enthusiast Approved!

Current special, at $200 off, if you are on the fence, just buy the system.  You will not regret it.  There are a number of comments below that I don't believe are warranted.  This system records in two channels, Main Stream and Sub Stream.  The Main Stream can record in 2560X1440 (Clear and Sharp) and the Sub Stream is recorded in 352X240 (Grainy).  

When you are looking at the Live Video via your Smartphone or PC, you are viewing the Sub Stream to conserve bandwidth.   But, when you playback recorded video, that pulls the Main Stream, that really looks great.  It looks even better if you tweak each camera w/ a tad more saturation.  There are additional adjustments in Hue, contrast, and brightness.  

This system comes w/ ten cameras, they are made of metal and have a 105-degree field of view.  Initially, I did not like these, but they grow on you.  One mistake by Samsung, is they give you too small of screws for mounting the cameras.  

The video viewer is outstanding.  Very responsive, extremely powerful functions, even supporting PTZ cameras.  

The WiseView software for the SmartPhones works great.  All Modes work, Live Mode, Playback, and Record.  

Helpdesk support was outstanding.  If they view you are struggling, they remote into your PC w/ your permission and assist you in configuring your system and your firewall software.

Best Security Camera System for the Money!!!

This system was affordable & completely met our needs. Very simple installation.

Excellent System

I bought this system and a 4K monitor to go with it several weeks ago. The hardest part for me is running the wires for the cameras because I?m old and I don?t get around in the attic as easy as I used to. But I have four of the ten cameras installed and they work beautifully.  Picture quality using a 4K monitor is as sharp as can be. People who complain about the resolution being bad must be viewing with their computer or TV. You NEED a 4K monitor to see the 4K resolution of the cameras!  I could not be happier with this system.  I am going to get the other 6 cameras mounted and then probably buy a second identical system. They ARE that good!!

Extremely pleased and happy!!

I purchased the system in May of 2017 and installed it one month later. I set up the system on my dining room table to check the cameras and screen. All of the camera functioned so I installed 4 cameras. Later that week I installed 5 cameras and adjusted the view areas as I required. One week later (2 weeks on one of the first installed) one of the cameras went out. Had to send it back at my expense for repair/replace after three days of speaking to tech support. The camera was replaced and I checked it for functionality, it did work. The last placement for the camera was determined and the camera was installed. Two days latter the camera quit working, I disconnected it and reconnected it. Worked for another 9 hours and went out again. Switched camera from #10 to #6. Camera worked for 26 hours and then went out and two more cameras went out with. Reset all cameras and all came back up. Switched camera back to #10. It worked for about 2 hours then disconnected the camera at dvr. Camera fails quit happening.
It appears the camera system will not support 10 cameras. Checked the power at the power strip and it was 114 volts. 
I added a 6tb drive to increase recording time.
The dvr is hard and will not let me remain in admin mode. This makes it hard to zoom, replay, etc.
The cameras at night barely show 35 feet away and pictures are so grainy they cannot be zoomed. I cannot see license plates even in my own driveway.
I have not connected to the internet yet.

Dissapointed

Bought this cameras thinking the 4mp was the better than 1080p. The picture is amazing when is working. I continuously loose video signal on a camera. Then I get vertical lines across all cameras all the time. I notice if I wiggle the cables from the back of the DVR the lines are gone. As soon as I leave it alone the lines come back. I called Samsung customer service and they all told me the kit is defective. I paid for an install and I am furious that now I have to pay for an install and re install. I should of went with SWAAN or knight owl. The system sucks. Stay away from it and don't waste your money.

worst camera system ever!!

I bought this after installing a night owl 1080 system at my dads house. I figured as clear as the night owl is this Samsung 4mp is going to be awesome. I tried changing resolution I cant even read a license plate in my driveway all I can say is( shot) put an i in place of the o. I liked the night owl interface way more  and the night owl is like looking out a window. Samsung is like a chromacast - blue hazing of trees and other things picture quality what picture quality?  I own alot of Samsung products I really am disappointed in this I had higher expectactions.

Dont buy..  cameras wont stay on line a d keep having to re set them.

I bought this system. We have to enter user name and password all the time in order to view playback and it does record only 3 days. If u need more, then you need to buy extra hard drive which goes upto 6TB. So, it's not worth it to buy it. Waste of time and waste of money

Poor feature with not even three days recording

I am finding it impossible to find online support from the company. There seems to be no clear path to download firmware updates or reports issues.
The Samsung name may be on the packaging but this is not a Samsung product.
I would not recommend to anyone.
