Mystic Magenta Black Diamond Crape Myrtle

Mystic Magenta™ is a new show-stopping Black Diamond® Crape Myrtle with striking black foliage and masses of magenta-pink blooms. The blooms reach their productivity peak during the summer and fall months. This variety has been described as having an intermediate growth habit, reaching 10 to 12 feet tall and 8 feet wide. It can be used as a specimen or in mass plantings. Crape Myrtles look particularly nice when lining driveways or fences. They can also be planted in a container on your deck or patio as long as the container is at least 12" in diameter. These crape myrtles are drought tolerant, mildew resistant and low maintenance. This crape myrtle can be used in Zones 2-5 if in a planter and brought in during the winter months. Zone 6 planting requires protection during the winter, otherwise it will die back to the ground and blooms will be sparse. The Black Diamond is hardy in Zones 7-9.

I was hesitant ordering a tree from a membership club.  I wanted a Black Diamond Crape Myrtle.  I was unable to find one in my local garden centers.  I searched on the internet and Sam’s club came up with one.  I thought I would give it a try.  The tree arrived in a few days in perfect condition. It was extremely well packaged. I was very impressed with the quality and condition of the tree upon arrival. I followed instructions and planted it.  It has already produced several beautiful blooms.  I am very happy with this purchase.  I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful Crape Myrtle tree.

Beautiful Tree.

My tree has been in the ground for two weeks in a sunny, southern-facing spot, so far, so good.  It came well-packaged, staked, and in very good condition.  The instruction card personifying the tree was a nice touch and provided some helpful guidance.  I let the tree sit indoors to get acclimated, as suggested, then gradually moved it outside until the day I planted.  I don't expect any blooms this season, just root growth, but the leaves have turned its natural color, and I'm hopeful it'll make it.  Would buy from this nursery again.

I just received my plant today. Including the pot it is a little over 3 feet tall. Pot is probably a 2 gallon size. Plant looks quite healthy. Comparing this plant at atanother big box store it would of cost me between $60/$70. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
