Sustainable Viticulture Program of Moët & Chandon

Moët & Chandon implemented its first sustainable viticulture program in 2000. In 2014, the Maison was awarded a double sustainable viticulture and high-quality environmental certification for its entire estate. This certification, verified by the independent organization Ocacia, includes 124 measurable, quantifiable criteria and covers all aspects of wine growing - from planting to waste processing. The Maison encourages the preservation of the landscape around its plots through the cultivation of 180 hectares of biodiversity reservoirs—including ponds, shrub hedgerows, floral meadows, and forest. Currently, 95% of the Maison’s vineyards have grass cover.

Commitment to Environmental Preservation

In the last decade, Moët & Chandon has reduced the use of phytosanitary products by 50%. In 2012, the Maison became the first in the world to invest in an electric straddle-tractor for use in viticulture, which has led to a reduction in the use of herbicides. Moët & Chandon now operates a fleet of 8 electric tractors and aims to increase this to 20 tractors by 2020. Furthermore, Moët & Chandon is working with over 2,000 growers to help them become individually-certified in sustainable viticulture, notably through training sessions supported by the CIVC and local Chambers of Agriculture.

If you're wondering which is best between Vueve Cliquot and Möet. I'll tell you this. Vueve is highly carbonated/effervescent. It makes my tummy feel gassy and full. Möet is less effervescent, has a sweeter taste and is much cheaper. Vueve to toast, Möet to drink in my opinion.
