Member's Mark Paperwhite for Indoor Blooming Dormant Bulbs includes 20 dormant Narcissus bulbs that can be planted indoors in containers or outdoors for white blooms in early to mid-spring.

Indoor containers: soil or water with decorative stones

Paperwhite bulbs can be grown indoors in containers filled with soil, or grown in water paired with decorative stones for a polished display.

• For container planting, place each bulb pointed side up and bury the bulb about three times as deep as its width.
• Water thoroughly at planting; while actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so water reaches the roots.

Outdoor planting for spring color (USDA Zones 6–9)

Paperwhites are suited for outdoor planting in USDA Hardiness Zones 6–9 and prefer full sun to partially shaded areas.

• Plant bulbs in the fall before the first frost for early spring bloom time.
• Space paperwhite bulbs 3–6 in. apart for a fuller planting.
• For larger displays, dig out a sunny area 5–7 in. deep, set bulbs pointy side up, then cover with soil and water thoroughly.
• Mulch is recommended in extreme climates.

Soil, watering, and growth habit

Plant paperwhites in loose, crumbly, well-drained soil to help prevent rotting. These bulbs grow with an upright habit and typically reach 6–24 in. in height.

After-bloom care and advanced propagation

After blooming, leave bulbs in place to allow clumping or reseeding, and divide only when planting spaces become overcrowded. For propagation, divide in the fall after chilling bulbs for four weeks in a moist medium. In non-hardy zones, store cleaned bulbs in a dry, cool place at 40–50°F to overwinter.
