I am extremely disappointed with purchase and feel completely let down as a longtime customer of both Sam's Club and Lenovo. While I will continue shopping at Sam's Club, this situation has convinced me that I will not purchase another Lenovo computer. On July 22, 2025, I purchased this computer online from Sam's Club specifically to upgrade to Windows 11. The Sam's Club website clearly stated that the computer included a one-year warranty. I did not power on the computer until mid-January 2026, when I was ready to begin using it. Immediately upon startup, I received a Lenovo Hardware Settings message stating: “A battery error has occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.” Since the computer was purchased through Sam's Club, I contacted them first. I was informed that returns are limited to 90 days and that I would need to contact Lenovo directly for warranty service. I was provided Lenovo's customer support number and reached out to them. To my surprise, Lenovo informed me that the warranty had expired in August 2025 — just one month after my purchase date. I explained that I had proof of purchase dated July 22, 2025, and that the one-year warranty should therefore be valid through July 2026. I was then told that the computer had been manufactured in July 2024 and that Lenovo's warranty period had already been running prior to my purchase. In other words, by the time I bought the computer — new — most of the manufacturer's warranty had already elapsed. Despite providing proof of purchase, Lenovo would not honor what was advertised as a one-year warranty from the date of sale. As a result, I was forced to purchase a replacement battery for $92 and pay a local technician $63 for installation, for a total out-of-pocket cost of $155 on what should have been a product covered under warranty. I feel misled and unfairly treated. A customer purchasing a new computer should reasonably expect the warranty to begin on the date of purchase — not on the date the device was manufactured. I am sharing this experience so that Sam's Club is aware of how Lenovo is handling warranty claims and how this reflects on the products sold through your store.
