From the vine to the glass, every step of the La Crema winemaking process seeks to preserve the La Crema Sauvignon Blanc’s flavors. La Crema’s original name, La Crema Vinera, means “best of the vine,” setting the standard for all La Crema has done since 1979. La Crema is committed to Sustainability. The areas that we focus on for sustainability include but are not limited to: biodiversity planting, land preservation, regenerative farming, composting, cover crops, livestock, ecosystem management, water conservation, rainwater capture, and solar power. We also have certifications with Sustainability in Practice (SIP), the Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance, and the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing (CCSW).

Process

Fruit is sourced from vineyards throughout Sonoma County. Including vineyards in the Russian River, Bennett, Alexander, Dry Creek, and Knights Valleys. Soils are predominantly free draining loams. Crafted with boutique winemaking techniques, this sauvignon blanc is fermented in a combination of oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks to deliver a unique wine drinking experience. 

Weather Conditions for 2023 Vintage

With record breaking rainfall throughout the winter and into spring 2023, bud break came late by about three to four weeks. The trend of running 3-4 weeks behind remained to be a normal occurrence throughout the growing season and in to harvest. The long hang time provided ideal conditions for flavor development and acid retention. Our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc harvest began September 6th, 2023.
