Vineyards
Korbel Extra Dry is blended using four different grape varieties, each of which plays an important role in the final blend. Chenin Blanc gives the blend a soft, fruit-forward character. Chardonnay provides the structure, backbone and citrus and baked apple flavors. French Colombard contributes to the blend by adding bright, crisp flavors and a hint of spice to the finish.

The grapes used in Korbel Extra Dry are grown on our estate properties in Sonoma County and Clarksburg. Korbel also buys grapes from several independent growers throughout California's winegrowing regions. Many of these growers have grown grapes for Korbel for decades.

Winemaking
Like all Korbel California champagnes, Extra Dry is produced using the classic Méthode Champenoise bottle fermentation process. Korbel Extra Dry is blended to be a delicate, easy-to-enjoy, off-dry champagne. By blending multiple varieties, vintages and appellations, Korbel can assure the consistent quality of every bottle of Extra Dry.

Why do they call their "off-dry" cuvee "Extra Dry?" The reason goes back to the beginnings of the traditional Méthode Champenoise process. 200 years ago most champagnes were very sweet—typically 3 to 5% sugar. About 150 years ago, a drier style began to emerge at about 1.5 to 2% sugar and was called "extra dry." By today's standards, this level of sugar is considered "off-dry" (or slightly sweet), but the historic term "extra dry" has stayed with Korbel.

Great drink for a great price

I love champagne. I've always loved Korbel. I feel it's priced right for any type of situation from a nice wedding to a date night or a group of friends hanging out. It has just enough carbonation and a great flavor. Perfect for mixing with anything from orange juice to anything that a person can come up with. High recommendations on this champagne

This is not Champagne, this is sparkling wine

This is not Champagne, this is sparkling wine. Real Champagne is made in the Champagne region, in France, according to the “méthode champenoise”. It is actually illegal to call sparkling wine from California “Champagne”, but this company and a couple others benefit from a loophole that allows them to call their sparkling wine “California Champagne”. This is against the law and international treaties, but because of a grandfathered clause in the law passed a couple decades ago, Korbel won’t face any consequences. Also, real Champagne will never be this cheap, so if this looks top good to be true, thats because it is. It might be a decent sparkling wine, but since the company is using a deceving name to make fools believe they are getting a g...

    We all love it—it's super delicious.

    Korbel Extra Dry is a crisp, semi-dry Californian sparkling wine that is light and refreshing-one of my favorites and an excellent choice for family celebrations.

    Tasty because it IS CHAMPAGNE!!!

    Regarding the previous comment...we have visited this winery and their Champagne is made in Le methode champenoise thus giving it the status of "Champagne." Grandfathered in or not there was a reason and that is because it is made in the proper method. Their entire family of CHAMPAGNES have incredible tasting notes...AMAZING!!! Highly Recommend!!!

    I love this champagne not to dry very good to drink alone or mix for a mimosa. The packaging is stellar and no issues with the cork. Price point is decent, your paying for a quality champagne. It's my go to drink when available. So I'd definitely purchase again and

    Korbel Extra Dry California Champagne is my FAVORITE champagne 🥂 🍾 . The 1st time I tried this was 33 years ago when I 1st became engaged. It was a gift. It is definitely not too sweet. It's light. Perfect alone for toasting on that special occasion or mixed to enjoy a Mimosa. Either way its enjoyed tremendously.
