Perfect fit for my generator . It also
 has a longer warranty then other batteries from different outlets. The core refund was simple, just bring it back to Sam's clubs auto department for the $20 core refund.

Quality battery with a good warranty

bought it 1 month ago for my diesel tractor. Starts/ cranks fine 2-3 times a week with no extra charging in 30-50 deg. weather.

What can I say?

Perfect fit

I purchased this battery in April 2014 for a standby generator. Has cranked the gen. once a week since with no problems. I too was unhappy about the core charge when it was a new application with no old battery to turn in.
However, remember this is a governmental charge which Sam's has no control over.

Good battery

We purchased this same battery for our stand-by generator, nearly 7 years ago. I test the battery each year during my Maintenace schedule and passed each time. The battery is on sale for 3-day sale, which we read better as to not miss the sale price.

7 years old and still kicking it.

Comparable to similarly priced offerings from numerous other retailers, no surprise given there are only 2 large battery manufacturers feeding the United States. It absolutely works, meets specs no problem, does the job well. Like so many automotive batteries on the market, feels like luck of the draw. First unit died after 5 months without warning, 0v from the battery, no continuity through it, completely disconnected internally. Second unit died after 5 months as well, I'd call that a coincidence, looks to have dropped 2 cells; can't get more than 8.2v out of it. Third unit is going strong with no issue after 14 months. All batteries saw daily use in light trucks on dirt roads. I haven't had better or worse luck with any other brand, I haven't found a brand that can consistently deliver more than 10 months of service on average within a similar price-range. What I do is hard on these batteries, I'd expect much better lifespan in a normal daily-driver. All this means to me is that the warranty is the most important consideration when buying a battery! This is one of the best priced options out there with a 3 year warranty, and that fact is what puts it ahead of the (often identical) competition.
