One of the most exciting things about the holiday season is choosing the perfect Christmas decorations for your home, and Sam's Club has the selection you need to make your holiday truly magical. The holiday season is an exciting time full of the smell of warm gingerbread wafting from the kitchen, twinkling outdoor lighting, and a perfect Christmas tree wrapped in lights and finished off with a seasonal tree topper. Let us help you decorate for your celebration.
Ornaments, tree skirts, and garlands are a staple of the Christmas season, and often a tradition for many families around the holidays. Many families enjoy creating a theme for their tree, finding unique ornaments with sentimental meanings, or choosing the perfect tree trim to represent their family.
The best Christmas tree ornaments are ones that speak to you and your needs—whether that's shatterproof ornaments in beautiful colors, classic snowflake ornaments, or keepsake Christmas ball ornaments. While there are no rules to decorating your tree, garlands are a traditional must-have and will make your tree stand out all season long.
You can get a garland to fit your theme, or create something entirely new all by weaving your ornaments and garlands together into a work of art. Whether this is your first Christmas or you are a Christmas tree decorations connoisseur, Sam's Club can help you find the best ornament set and Christmas tree trim for you.
What to Look For In a Christmas Ornament
Christmas ornaments are essential for every Christmas season, but how do you know what to look for? The best types of ornaments to start with are ones with traditional shapes for the season, like ball ornaments, Santa ornaments, nutcrackers, or a cute snowman or two. If you have a solid collection of traditional ornaments, consider branching out into one-of-a-kind ornaments or collectible sentimental ornaments that remind you of a fond memory.
Glass Christmas ornaments, for example, can offer your tree a unique style, creating the effect that it's covered in icicles. Here at Sam's Club, we even carry shatterproof glass ornaments for those with rowdy little ones or pets that love to play with these little treasures. No matter what you need, Sam's Club has the perfect ornament for you!
How Many Ornaments Do I Need?
So you have your tree all set up in your living room, and you're all set to decorate. How do you know how many ornaments you need? Whether this is your first Christmas or a refresh on a new tradition, it can be difficult to know exactly how many ornaments are necessary to decorate a Christmas tree. The number of ornaments you use can vary depending on the shapes and sizes of the ornaments. Luckily, when it comes to decorating your very own tree, there's no wrong answer!
However, a good rule of thumb is to use 10 to 20 ornaments per foot of tree. For example:
- Christmas trees under 3 feet need between 10 and 30 ornaments
- Christmas trees between 3 and 6 feet need between 50 and 100 ornaments
- For a 6 to 8 foot Christmas tree, 100 to 150 ornaments should work
- For anything larger, such as a 12 ft. tree, just follow the 10 to 20 ornaments per foot rule
Before you know it, you'll have a beautiful tree decked out in holiday decorations that you love!
How Much Garland Do I Need?
Garlands are a great addition to your Christmas tree and a fun way to spice up your holiday decor! These draping decorations can often be customized to fit your tree theme. The best way to decorate your tree with garlands is to start at the top and wind your way around the tree, making sure to evenly space out the garlands to keep them from bunching up on one side.
Here at Sam's Club, we have a large selection of garlands available to help you further personalize your tree. After all, picking the right garland is essential to creating a theme for your Christmas home decor.
Whether you want a flashy silvery tinsel look or a classic frosted woodland pine cone look, Sam's Club has the garland selection you need to transform your Christmas tree. But how much garland do you need?
A good rule of thumb is to have around 9 feet of garland per foot of tree. Therefore, for trees under 3 feet, getting less than 27 feet of garland would be ideal.
For trees between 3 to 6 feet, getting anywhere from 27 to 54 feet of garland is a good range to aim for.
For larger trees, such as 6- to 8-foot Christmas trees, 54 to 72 feet of garland is ideal. For anything taller than 8 feet, the sky's the limit!
