History of Frozen Meals

Frozen foods can be found in supermarkets across the globe. Centuries ago, many cultures froze their fresh caught food in ice to prevent spoiling during the cold winter months. In 1928, inventor Clarence Birdseye expanded on this technique and came up with a double-belt freezer that would flash freeze food at -13ºF. How Are Frozen Entrees Made?

Next, they're frozen using methods like cold air blasting, indirect contact with refrigerated plates or liquid immersion cooling. Finally, these frozen entrees are put in branded packaging and shipped to grocers around the world.
