What Makes Snyder of Berlin Original Potato Chips Unique?

Whether you love to munch on Snyder original potato chips, rippled, or one of the many flavored options, you will notice that all Snyder of Berlin Potato Chips carry the distinctive "Flavor Enhanced with Peanut Oil" designation. While this particular cooking oil, like the special ingredients used in Snyder's flavored chips, costs more, it contributes to the unique taste that is Snyder of Berlin.

What Are Some Fun Facts About Snyder of Berlin Original Potato Chips?

Snyder of Berlin has been committed to improving its methods to help the environment for decades: using recyclable boxes to ship and deliver the product and then reusing them several times before recycling them; reducing electric use with efficient LED lighting and reduced water consumption in the potato washing stage; and giving back to countless community events.

When you buy Snyder potato chips online, you are participating in the annual movement of 25 million potatoes, or about 7 harvested acres a day. About 27 pounds of chips, including the original potato chips, are made from every 100 pounds of potatoes.

About Snyder of Berlin

The founder, Edward Snyder I, started making his chips, original recipe, after the Civil War. He originally was a brick manufacturer. Upon tasting some potato chips at a hotel while traveling, he decided to go into the potato chip business, frying them up at home and selling them to neighbors. The family business grew until officially becoming Snyder of Berlin in 1944, when a factory was built in Berlin that was practically a mirror image of the original in Hanover, Pa.
