Description

Rana® Sausage & Cheese Tortelloni (18 oz., 2 pk.) brings together seasoned meat and a fragrant cheese in one tortelloni morsel. Versatile as a main meal, side dish, appetizer or salad.

How Do You Cook It?

Making a delicious dinner, appetizer or side in a short time is easy with Rana Sausage & Cheese Tortelloni. Just pour your cheese tortelloni into boiling water, wait four minutes, strain and serve with a drizzle of sauce. It's really that easy.

What's In It?

The delicious Rana Sausage & Cheese Tortelloni is made with delicious chunks of mildly seasoned Italian sausage, expertly blended with ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. The pasta itself is made in the way any true Italian would recognize from their nonna's kitchen. It's crafted the old way using only flour, eggs and water. What's just as important as what's in your cheese tortelloni is what isn't in it. Rana uses no preservatives or GMOs, no hydrogenated fats or gums, no powdered eggs, artificial colors or artificial sweeteners.

What's the Difference Between Cheese Tortelloni and Cheese Tortellini?

Italians take their food very seriously, and there is definitely a difference, not just in that tortellini is smaller. Tortellini, stuffed with meat, is a specialty in Bologna and they are served in a brothy soup. The pasta stuffed with cheese are tortelloni and they are traditionally served in a sauce of sage and butter so that you can taste the amazing and light stuffing. There are very logical reasons as to why tortellini and tortelloni differ in size and it has to do with the fillings.

The cheese filling in cheese tortelloni is flavorful but delicate, meaning you need to put more of it in every bite so that you can actually taste it. This is why Rana's sausage and cheese tortelloni must be larger, to taste the mild flavors. Tortellini filling is extremely flavorful and strong, so you don't need a lot of filling to actually taste it. If you put tortellini filling in a tortelloni pasta, by the end of the meal, you wouldn't taste anything else. Italians, and the Bolognese in particular, understand the importance of balance in foods and this is just one example of that.
