You may be familiar with “daily aspirin therapy.” This practice refers to taking one aspirin per day as a preventative measure for heart attacks. People who have had heart attacks are often told by their doctors to take an aspirin each day. If you or someone in your family has a history of heart disease or stroke, ask your health care provider about daily aspirin therapy.
According to the American Heart Association, omega-3 fatty acids are good for those with healthy hearts, those with a high risk for cardiovascular disease and for those who already have some form of cardiovascular disease. They recommend eating fish twice per week. If you don’t enjoy fish or you simply have difficulty eating fish twice per week, fish oil supplements are an option.

Soluble fiber has been associated with the reduction of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol.
