Charlie Watkins opened his first O’Charley's in 1971, in Nashville, Tennessee, right across from Vanderbilt University. The menu items were basically a collection of his wife’s best-loved recipes and the motto for the place was that everyone who came through the door was a friend of Charley’s. Great food, a welcoming atmosphere, soft rolls served fresh and free to each customer: that’s all he needed to make something unique.
O’Charley’s is also known for their award-winning pies. Whole pies can be ordered up to two weeks in advance for special occasions and picked up. Also, at select locations, you might be able to enjoy “Free Pie Wednesday:” customers dining in can get a free slice of pie. Some of the choices may include Southern Pecan, Double-Crust Peach, Ooey Gooey Caramel French Silk or Country Apple pie with any entree purchase every Wednesday, and no coupon is required.
