Our products go through lots of testing to ensure top quality and performance, so we wouldn't expect our Dishwashing Soap to impart the product taste into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. It's important to not soak porous items; instead wash them immediately and rinse thoroughly. Dawn Free & Clear have the lightest scents, and may be the best option for you. To remove the taste/smell, soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it or run them through the dishwasher (assuming the dishes are dishwasher safe). If choosing to use Dawn for any purpose other than dishes, be sure you test the soap in an inconspicuous area to ensure no damage to the external surface will occur. Be sure to not allow the wash solution to remain on surfaces for an extended period of time due to the possibility of damage. This is not expected but is possible if the surface is already compromised.
