I find Red Hot Riplets to have a perfect texture, not too thin, nor too thick but the perfect crunch with the ripple's depth %26 spacing just right to complement the crunch %26 maximize the chip's ability to hold the flavor of all its seasoning, including St. Louis Style Hot Sauce flavoring. These are my favorite chip, nothing boring about them; stimulate the taste buds and wakes up the palette. For those who can't take the heat, I have shared them with a dab of sour cream, and that really makes the flavor pop. I'm a nurse %26 in my 30 years of nursing I've done contract %26 traveling, in addition to my local traditional positions. I have shared my hometown favorite, Old Vienna of St. Louis, Red Hot Riplets, everywhere I go. I am surprised when I come across someone who hasn't heard of or tried this taste sensation %26 I love to show them what they have been missing. When a bag has only a small amount remaining, I save them to use as my "Secret Weapon". I crush what is left, fine or crunchy depending on what I am making- fine for chops, crunchier for oven fried chicken - adjust to your liking - then I add right into the chip bag: breadcrumbs, flour, other spices such as turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, etc... Shake the bag to thoroughly mix the dry ingredients. I rinse %26 pat the meat dry, coat it in egg, then drop it in the bag of dry ingredients %26 shake to coat well. I use either a large cast iron skillet or a baking sheet. If I use a baking sheet I line it with tin foil. I coat the bottom of the skillet or the foil of the baking sheet with olive oil %26 place the fully coated meat on the prepared pan being used. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the meat %26 place in a 350 preheated oven. It is so good! I have used this little secret for over a decade. For cooks that just want that flavor without the added crisp %26 crunch Old Vienna created Red Hot Riplets Seasoning. I put it on too many things to list but I will say my two favorites are home cooked fries %26 my seafood butter sauce. Red Hot Corn Chips are another creation of Old Vienna of St. Louis that has that wonderful flavor %26 are a go to snack favorite of mine. They have that St. Louis Style Hot Sauce flavoring, but I have noticed a bit extra taste of sweetness, that is kind of a tease. You get little inklings of it here %26 there, never too sweet, just enough to make you want more. Try those too! Trust me, you will love them. Old Vienna has other great products to explore too. Old Vienna of St. Louis is a great locally owned %26 operated company that makes wonderful, quality products.
