Excellent price/performance ratio
I have long been interested in adding acoustic treatment to our home theater, but was put off by the high cost. These panels are very affordable compared to alternatives, yet are attractive and highly effective. After installing these on the walls and ceiling in the the home theater, here is what we noticed about the sound quality: 1) Spoken dialog in movies is much clearer and easier to understand. 2) Because of #1, you can listen to dialog at lower volumes. Then when music or action scenes come along, you don't have to grab for the remote to turn it down. 3) Music presents much more detail. For example, I have a live acoustic recording of a favorite guitarist/singer. I have listened to that album many times but never realized that you could hear voices and tableware clinking in the background of the nightclub! 4) Music simply sounds cleaner and more immediate overall....these panels eliminate the slight "boxy" sound that comes from almost all speakers in an untreated room. Regarding quality, I had one out of twelve where the picture hanger on the back was severly bent and almost damaged the one packed next to it in the box. it looked like the bent hanger happened when the panel was shoved into the box for packing. The fabric is a lint magnet - expect to keep a vacuum cleaner handy to vacuum them down once you have them installed where you want them. The hangers are fairly light duty but the panels themselves are not heavy. I decided to go one step further by attaching each 24x40 panel with four #6 screws driven into four thread-in style drywall anchors. I covered the screw heads with Hillman Group black plastic screw covers. These screw covers snap into place over the screw head, making them look like small plastic buttons for a neat appearance. It was necessary to drill holes in the frames but that was fairly easy. I used a soldering iron to melt the fabric at the places I wanted to drill holes. This made a hole for the drill bit to pass through without grabbing and twisting the fabric. I placed the screws on the 40 sides of the panels 10" from either end. Panel support is perfect and they look exceptionally good on the ceiling and walls....has added a real "pro" touch to the home theater. Best money we ever spent on an upgrade!
Great Panels
They look great, exactly what I expected...fantastic addition to my man cave!! These definitely helped dull out any echos in the room, music and tv both sound great with these on the walls.
Great product!!!
This product works very well. I ordered the light color for my media center last year. They immediately removed the echo from the room. I recently purchased the black ones for my office where I have a 2 channel sound system. I could hear the improvement in sound quality right away. These work as advertised. I have compared simular products but you can't beat these for the price.
Best Purchase Ever!
A must have for any home theatre totally makes a sound difference.
Very good quality. Adds that special touch to my theater room. My friends were impressed.
Works well, not very durable cardboard backing
Hi, I bought these a few years ago to put in my living room as we had a lot of noise reflection. They arrived 4 in a box, with the little saw tooth hangers on the top sides (vertical mounting). All you need to provide is the nails and hammer to mount them on the wall. The backing is very flimsy cardboard that is stapled to the frame. I've found that the cardboard tears away from the staples very easily and i've had to re-staple the cardboard back onto the frame on three of my panels; hence the 4-star rating. Once mounted on the wall, they perform as expected and helped tremendously with the echo and sound reflection in the living room. I have also used them inside my windows (facing out) to absorb the noise of the a/c unit outside with great success as well. I have purchased 2 sets of these and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lower cost sound deadening panel. Much cheaper than buying the foam or other "mats" and they look great as well.
Good value
These were a handsome addition at a much lower price than most acoustic panels. They are the perfect size and I plan to get more for my office music studio. The only cons I would say was that the cardboard on the back of the panels came off fairly quickly. If you purchase this item, Id suggest adding more heavy duty staples to the rear of the panel or small nails.
