Poor experience this far.

I've never purchased an electric scooter and so when looking for a Christmas ‘22 gift for my 5 year old son I ordered a Segway zing E8 direct from the Segway website after comparing with similar brands on Amazon. After assembly and following the instructions, the scooter would not go into active mode and remain in safety mode (very slow and constantly makes beeping noises). I called customer service and was told (based on the constant beeping pattern) there's an error code 21 relating to the brake mechanism and to make sure the brake cable was secure. If that didn't solve the problem I was told I would need to send back to Segway for repair/replacement. I checked the brake cable over and everything with it was secure. I then filled out a warranty request form, which includes all my identifying info along with the serial number, proof and date of purchase and packaged the scooter back in the box expecting to get a return barcode or label emailed to me. Instead I got an automated email requesting all the info I already submitted on the return authorization form along with the request “If possible, please take a photo/video showing the issue so that we could send it to our production team for validation purposes.” I already disassembled and repackaged the scooter and so at this point I'm very frustrated and dissatisfied with this company. It's now 3 weeks after Christmas and the brand new scooter I surprised my 5 year old son with is unusable and sitting in its originally box. I understand new products sometimes don't work properly and need to be repaired/replaced but it just feels like I have to jump through hoops to get their properly functioning advertised product. I will update this review depending on the outcome of my experience.
