Great set for multiple ages

Shipping & Pick-up; Item arrived on separate days, but all were ready the exact date given via Ship to Store in 3 boxes. It took a little while for the Walmart employees to find all the boxes, but they were very helpful. I was able to get the entire set into my Expedition with all of the back seats down, as well as the front passenger seat. The front of the manual states the set is for 8 users maximum, Ages 3-10, Weight Limit 110 lbs per child. Bought for: I have 2 boys; 10 and 4 years old. This set is a great compromise for both of them. Even though my 10 year old (4'7” & 67 lbs) still has his feet on the ground while holding onto the Monkey Bars, he knows he can just lift his legs while crossing. We lifted a swing to the highest level for him. He says the set is “Awesome!” and enjoys playing “store” at the Lunch Time Café Table with his brother. They both fit into the fort together and love the fast slide. The Glider is a great help for the 4 year old (3'6” & 40lbs) that refuses to learn to swing on a real swing himself. Now, he actually “swings” himself on the Glider which allows my wife and me the opportunity to actually sit down while he swings. Assembly; Once home, the entire process took 7 ½ hours (broken into 2 days) for just me and my wife to complete. (I am a mechanic by trade, have the proper tools and very skilled in building. My wife is an excellent manual reader & parts person.) Working together, she would have all of the parts ready for me and while I assembled that step, she would then gather parts for the next step and have them ready to go in their location before I needed them. I did use a few items on my own; to include extra wood for the base and some deck screws for added support at the roof and base. We also plan to coat the set with Waterseal to add life to the playset. I was a bit skeptical that the entire playset was in the 3 boxes (since one was obviously the slide,) so I immediately started with the inventory. Everything was present, to include some extra hardware. All of the pieces were labeled for ease of assembly and each bag of hardware was labeled as well. My wife went behind me and put everything in order according to its numerical label. Using one of the empty boxes, she even put the hardware in numerical order – according to the labeled bags. She cut each bag open at the top so each label could be read throughout the entire process. She said this made it extremely easy when searching for parts and hardware for each step. We live in Central Florida, so I raised the set up onto pressure treated 2x6s to keep the set off the ground to keep as much moisture from aging and rotting the set. Even with the 2x6s in place, I put the ground stakes exactly where instructed. When I put mulch around the set, it will cover these boards. I followed the instructions exactly as directed, even though I had some misgivings about the order of some of the steps. (Example; it directs you to assemble the entire roof of the fort first but you do not put it on until the end. The step that has you put the roof on states 4 people are needed. Using a step ladder, I was able to lift the roof into place while my wife helped stabilize it. It is probably 75 pounds and we were able to do it by ourselves, but I wouldn't recommend for those with back problems.) Another thing to note when assembling the roof: check all of your roof pieces first – a few will also be used as the wall below the flower box. Some may not be in perfect condition. Make sure you put these in a place where the imperfection won't matter or at the end so it will be easier to change when needed. Some of the additions/changes I made; I pre-drilled ALL holes. Some of the steps instructed to do this, but not all. I recommend pre-drilling all to keep the wood from splitting. Also, I did not screw the awing into the wood in as many places as directed per the instructions. The more screws you put in the awing, the more places you have for it to rip. I also used deck screws to secure the roof rather than the screws supplied for a little added stability against the thunderstorms and wind we get in the summer. Things not included in the set; these things are not mentioned in the description, but they are pictured. If you want sand in the sand box below the raised fort, you will have to buy your own sandbox sand. I would recommend putting a layer of thick plastic down first. Also, another thing to add would be a plywood topper to keep the four-legged creatures out to keep your child's sand clean. Another small thing to note that is not in the set; there are no flowers as pictured. Of course, for my boys, this is a good thing because the “flower box” is now an Army man barracks. All in all, I believe this is a good set and should last my boys until they outgrow it.

Good value but not so easy to assemble

Our 2 year old granddaughter loves the playset. She calls it her castle and enjoys the slide, swings and sandbox. The product looks nicer in the yard than the picture. This set was a good value compared to similar products at Lowes and Home Depot. But, the product was not as easy to assemble as it could have been. Most of the bolts screw into T-Nuts that are flush with the wood (a nice idea). The T-Nuts are just hard to thread so about 20 of the 30 assembly steps take 3-5 more minutes than you would expect. And finally the "chalkboard" in the back is really a chalk tarp. We were worried that our granddaughter would lean against the plastic tarp (it's screwed to the wood) and tumble out. So we bought some extra wood to put a wall behind it.

since but needs improvements

It was relatively easy to assemble except you need atleast 1 person to help. Was about a 12 hour job. The screws in the set are not a standard head and it requires you to switch from the special bit to Phillips bit on different parts of assembly. The landing needed reinforcement. The wood is extremely thin and can possibly break with the weight of an adult. Make sure you sort the boards before you start and rewrite the numbers on them.

My kids love it!

Purchases for my kids ages 2 and 4. They love it! Gave it four stars because it could be a little more sturdy and the “chalkboard” is a piece of tarp.
