I love the generator.

I purchased my generator for temporary usage for hurricanes. I live in South Louisiana and seems like every year we have one. I have natural gas connection on my house and was looking for a generator already equipped with that connection as well as gasoline and propane if needed. I didn't want to have to install a natural gas kit to a generator. I hooked it up and the first time I pushed the start button it came on. It's a whole lot quieter than the other one I have. So far I'm totally satisfied with my purchase. Thanks

Nice tri-fuel, needs better THD and gas tank drain features

Narrowed choices to Westinghouse WPro8500 and Champion Tri-Fuel 100416. Westinghouse offers 14-50R and < 5% THD but gasoline only. Champion only offers L14-30R and 12-20% THD (per Champion) but also runs on LP and NG. Decided basically unlimited NG fuel source (home has NG) was more important than "clean" power. Bought & did 5 hr break-in, changed oil, Used two 750/1500W ceramic heaters during break-in, varying load as recommended. My Amprobe ACDC-54NAV showed 5% THD no-load, 7-8% THD @ 750W, 12% THD @ 2250W and 15% THD @ 3000 W. Sure would be great if Champion would use a higher quality generator like the WPro8500 that doesn't require an inverter. Champion manual says to drain the gas tank through the carburetor drain bolt. Gee, how messy and long would that take as you'd have to station a funnel under the carb bowl, propping it up or plan a long time holding it, then monitor it for a long time. I searched and found a 6mm x 1mm thread/barb fitting that screws into where the carb bowl drain bolt goes, not sure how leak tight it would be. I also cut the fuel line just behind the LP/NG selector knob and installed a brass tee with 1/4" barbed fittings. On the 90 degree barb, I installed a Buna N plug, using constant tension spring clamps on all brass tee ports. Now I can use the 6mm x 1mm to 1/4" barb adapter and run all 8.5 gallons through the carb bowl. Better yet, remove brass tee Buna N cap and drain gas using separate 1/4" fuel hose inserted into mouth of 5 gallon gas can. Champion should include one or both of these options as they're cheap, effective, and much more user friendly. Westinghouse gives you a free generator cover if you leave a customer review, a very nice "thank you" gift indeed to protect your generator. Champion only offers a free t-shirt so you can walk around and be a marketing billboard for Champion while you generator gets dusty/dirty. Champion should also offer a free generator cover and keep the shirt.

So far so good

Have just broken in my Champion Tri fuel generator for 5 hours over a period of a week. Started right up each time and the funnel and the oil drain hose made the first oil change a snap. Had my house outfitted with an outside electrical outlet connected to the breaker box with an interlock to make running the generator more convienient when using it in an actual power outage. Hopefully I won't have to use the generator often but I know It will be there to power the majority of my house when needed

Ready to go!

After the big Texas freeze and subsequent power outages last year, I bought this generator hoping it never gets used! But should we have more outages this winter, it's ready to go. I particularly wanted electric start and tri-fuel. I have natural gas and propane on hand. I'd rather not use gasoline, as last winter the gas stations close to me were also without power and couldn't run their pumps. I followed the directions closely, getting it unpacked and started. The battery came charged and the generator started very quickly. I haven't hooked it into the house power yet (an electrician installed a transfer switch) but will before we get the colder forecasts. Just having it on hand gives me much peace of mind.

I would buy this product again

This was bought to power our house in the event of power outage. We have the option to use gas, propane, or natural gas.I have not used it in a real life situation yet but, it has been tested several times. It hooks up to the house and uses a lock out switch to prevent feed back to the power lines. It powers the entire house. ( we have gas stove ,water heater and furnace). It will also run our 2.5 ton AC. This is my third Champion used for different purpose. Never a problem with a Champion.

A must to have when electricity is out and can't get gas.

After hurricane Ida I decided that I needed a generator that ran on natural gas and could be independent from regular gas. A quick trip to the hardware store and I was able to adapt the generator to my existing gas line that I use for the BBQ pit. It started easily and I now have the ability to keep essential products running (AC, refrigerator, lights, freezer).

Natural Gas option is appreciated

After the major winter power outage in Texas in February 2021, we decided to get a portable generator. We were excited to find this tri-fuel option which offers natural gas. However, we had some questions and were disappointed with the 50 minute wait on the Champion Customer service phone line. We have not actually tried the generator yet but only gave 3 stars due to not being able to wait 50 minutes to talk to someone in customer service. Hopefully they can get more people answering their customer service phone.

Yes I would buy this Champion Tri-Fuel generator again

I use this generator as a house backup system. After installing the battery and oil, everything worked as expected right out of the box The only thing I would prefer differed is the symbols used used on the dial for gas, propane & natural gas. I would prefer labeling that said gas choke and gas run, etc for each fuel type.

Hurricane and Winter Storm Insurance

I purchased this tri-fuel generator in case of a loss of public utility power due to a future hurricane or winter vortex storm. I deferred this purchase until I was advised to checkout the tri-fuel generators on the market. It was clear that this Champion model was the purchase of choice. It arrived and was assembled in 20 minutes and started up immediately using LPG. The electrician came to install the 30 amp box and the plumber installed the natural gas connection and I am good to go.

Keep my home running and worry free !!!!!!!

Only ran for test of Transfer switch and tried to use natural gas,but could not get the machine started on it?Switched over to a tank of propane and it fired right up and ran just fine. Then after the test we switched back to natural gas and it ran on it? Can not wait for the loss of power to try it out! Toddzie.
