I've been using this fan in my den for over a year and it is the best fan I've ever had. During the late afternoons, our central AC unit just can't seem to keep our den w/ a cathedral ceiling cool enough and I can turn this fan on and within a few minutes its comfortable again. Having the remote is quite handy. Also the "timed cycles" is an added bonus- for example, if you want to go to sleep w/ the fan on but know you will not need it in an hr or so, you can set it to turn off after 1 hr or 2 hrs or 3 hrs. Great feature. The remote also allows you to set the direction or ocolate also speed of fan. I keep it on the lowest speed most of the time.
