It appears that most complaints are about the packaging and I will add my review to that complaint. Even though the packaging has been complained about for many years, there has not been any effort to make it easier to open the soft gels. Needed scissors to get the soft gels.

I love this product and use it often...BUT...WHY is the packaging so difficult to open...for both capsules and gels?!? You'd think it was a narcotic! I end up using scissors to cut it open. Granted, I am an older American, but I've never seen packaging so difficult. What are you afraid of?

What concerns the most is the lack of dosage and frequency of use on the container. If that information is on there the font is so tiny that even with reading glasses I could not see it. My wife got me a pack of Depends on Tuesday (18 in a pack) and she just went back to the store for another pack. Hereafter I'll never get sof-gels again I do trust the caplet to work in one dose. Packing is an important point that you must work on. Many elderly folks rely on this product (me included) for occasional use. Can I take to many? Can I take them too close together? I'm very disappointed.

Your consumers team should be ashamed of yourself, putting a package together with the foil back, it is impossible to get the pills out. Even cutting with a scissor still doesn't help much, put a easy pull foil on the back to pull off at one time, then let pills pop out with push of thumb, the way you have it now is impossible. Have your board members try to push them out during their board meeting. Maybe be you'd get a clue. For a Johnson and Johnson product this is a disgrace! You need to put a warning label on the front, Caution this has a foil backing making it difficult, Impossible for Elder to open! And we at Johnson and Johnson, don't care!!

I have used Imodium for years but will not drop another dime on this or an other Imodium product. I am, now, older and have arthritis in my hands. Unless one carries around a pair of scissors, it is absolutely impossible to open these little plastic packs with arthritis. I am sure there are other companies who still package the caplets and softgels in a bottle and I will purchase that product.

Is the packaging HARD to open? Yes. Is the product GREAT? Yes. So WHY is it hard to open? Because when people abuse the product and IGNORE the dosage instructions it is DANGEROUS ... OTC the MAXIMUM daily dose is 8MG (4 capsules or softgels) but too many customers think MORE IS BETTER (it is NOT) ... too much (that's ANYTHING over the recommended dosage) can cause SERIOUS heart problems. The USDA controls "packaging standards" ... it is REQUIRED that Imodium AD be HARD TO OPEN hoping to dissuade customers from "self-prescribing" overdoses. Now you KNOW WHY it's hard to open ... 'cause too many (one is too many) people abuse this wonderful product by ignoring the instructions.

Trying to open this is horrible. It's 10 times worse than trying to open dayquil. After 2 mins of trying to open 1 pack when I needed 2 for the first use, I went to the kitchen and used scissors. What if I'm at work with no scissors? Or driving? At someone elses house? "Can I borrow your scissors to open my diarrhea medicine?" Really??

Product works well. Packaging is terrible. Not only extremely difficult to open and painful for senior hands (impossible without scissors. What to do when I'm away from home?), but also an environmental hazard. Not ecologically responsible. The whole industry needs to acknowledge the enormous amount of waste they are creating and become aggressively involved in change. Please work on sustainable packaging.

I have a J pouch and my surgeon recommended this product to me. I find it slows things down which helps me get through my day. My only complaint is it has become very hard to find the larger quantities of the gel version. I don't digest pills as well so the gels work better for me. Does anyone have an explanation as to why this is happening?

The product is great and works most every time. I start with 2, if within a half hour if symptoms still exist, I take 1 more and that does the trick. The issue I have with product is the packaging. If one is sick and weak with no scissors around I embarrassingly admit I use my teeth. There’s got to be a better way.
