Good product, easy to assemble

Our 20-year-old Closet Maid fixtures had all gotten gooey (some problem with the plasticizers oozing out of the vinyl coating) and I did NOT want that again. These do look a bit like chef's pantry shelving, but are well made and easy to assemble. One problem - they were a little too short. If you hung a typical man's dress shirt (16/32) on the top bar, and installed the bottom bar with an inch or so clearance under the shirt, a pair of 34" slacks hung on the lower bar would almost touch the ground - no room to store shoes on the floor beneath! I called the company - they were not unpleasant, merely unhelpful. ("Sorry, we don't have anything to extend the length of the poles.") So I went to Home Depot and bought some heavy-duty PVC (2 different diameters) and end caps and made "boots" for each pole. Each 1' length of the larger diameter holds a 6" length inside. With the cap, this raises the whole unit almost 7 " and yet it is still stable.
