Need Samsung phone to use all apps

I found this frustrating as I didn't find anything that states the watch only has full function if you have a Samsung phone.

MamaL, we appreciate your feedback on the Samsung Galaxy Watch4. Unfortunately, some features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 are only usable with the Samsung Health app and other such things only available on Samsung cellular devices. You can still use many of the amazing features without it however. If you do not own a Samsung cellular device, you can download the Samsung Wearables app and get some added features.
