[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Review of Bissell BarkBath Portable Dog Bath
I was skeptical prior to using the Bissell BarkBath Portable Dog Bath, but I am now absolutely delighted with the results of the first two dogs that I bathed with it. The unit seemed loud to me when I started it in my small bathroom, but when I moved it to a more open space, on top of the large wire dog crate, it was tolerable for the dogs. It is portable with a handle that makes it easy to carry and it is light weight. The nice long nozzle made it easy to use the washing tool outside, which I couldn't do because it was raining continuously. The instructions clearly state not to use the unit on a wet surface. I may have been confused, but was not taking any chances.
There are three Quick Start directions, but I still put the water in the wrong tank. The tank with the tube that runs down into it is the correct water delivery tank.
The directions give an example of a way to accustom the dog to the sound, but I didn't want to take the time to do that. The dogs may have gotten used to the sound from when I was trying to get it running due to my error; because when I got it operating correctly, I grabbed my dog that was on the couch, the dog that won't let anyone clip his nails without a fight. He was relaxed and I was surprised at how easily and quickly I was able to bathe him. The mixture that I got on the couch cleaned up easily and the no rinse shampoo left no stain. There was plenty of water and shampoo left in the Bissell BarkBath, thus I bathed my PitBull, Punkin. Punkin normally hates baths and due to her size and my disabilities (also I weigh 100 pounds to her 65 pounds) it is next to impossible to get her in the bath tub for a bath. With the Bissell BarkBath already set up on top of her dog crate, it was very easy to bathe her. This is where she went to feel secure. Punkin stood still when I sucked the water and no rinse shampoo mixture off her coat. The attachment not only puts out the solution when the trigger is pulled, but it also sucks it in when the trigger is released. Any of the other water drained into the bottom of the crate for easy cleanup.
Both dogs that I bathed have allergies and were very itchy UNTIL I bathed them. I like the silky feel of their coats, the smell of the fur, and the fact that with the Bissell No-rinse Dog Shampoo there is no need to rinse them. It leaves behind a fresh clean smell.
The handy drawstring storage bag has enough room to store all of the attachments, the shampoo, the Bissell Furget it Brush, the microfiber mat and the microfiber towel that are all included. I hang it on a hanger in my coat and utility closet.
I have four more dogs to bathe and I look forward to using the Bissell Furget it Brush on my long haired Chihuahua. She has mats and will benefit from the brush that not only brushes, but removes the mats and detangles the fur. She will also benefit from the odor neutralizing properties of the Bissell No-Rinse Shampoo that comes in other fragrances, but right now I have the Bissell BarkBath all set up with the berry fragrance that was included.
