Suprisingly great system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was surprised at how well this system worked on my dog. I have a beagle that is an outside dog. And, she really stinks! I set the bark bath system up, brought her inside, and began shampooing her. She was a little afraid of the noise at first. But, I got her to stand still. This system is a lot like the Bissell Green Machine spot cleaner. Although, I don't think the motor or suction is as powerful or loud on the Bark Bath system. The system came with a 16 ounce bottle of no rinse shampoo. This is where the difference is in the system. The main compartment you fill up with plain water. Then, there is another hose system with a little box in the middle of it. You hook the hose into the box which holds the no rinse shampoo. The box actually has a switch on it to go from rinse water to shampoo depending on what step you are on. The hose that extends from the box to the pet is the one with the shampoo/suction end on it. I have to say, my dog smelled so clean, I would have left her in the house. It was amazing at how fresh and clean she smelled. I do want to point out a couple of things about the system. It is a complete system. Nothing additional is needed to use it. Except, the water and more shampoo if you run out. I could not find a mixing ratio for the shampoo, so I used half shampoo and half water in the compartment. And, this worked very well for a stinky dog! Another thing was, what happens when you run out of shampoo? I shopped around and didn't find anything else comparable to buy or use with it. I did find that you could buy the original, and recommended, shampoo online. The best deal was a two bottle pack for $18.99. In my opinion, every dog owner needs this system.

Product quality was fine, did not work well for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea of this BISSELL Bark Bath PLUS is such a great idea. Less mess, less water, easy portable bath. Unfortunately I did not feel like it worked any better or easier than a traditional bath. The product itself was easy enough to set up, most of which comes already attached. You have a small green plastic piece to attach on the front base as well as a gray plastic piece with one screw to attach to the back which allows you to hold the tube when the product is not in use. The bath system came with the bark bath attachment, the system itself, a 16oz bottle of no-rinse Bissell dog shampoo, microfiber cloth and microfiber mat, and even a complimentary dog comb which was nice. Use was simple, water in the main tank, soap in the bark bath attachment, turn on, press button, wash dog, then rinse. One thing is the microfiber mat is so small, unless you have a very small dog yours will not be able to sit on it well. Secondly there are some prongs on the brush itself, so it did not work well with our short haired dog, we kept feeling like we were accidentally scratching her. I think it would work better with longer haired breeds. It took a long time for the product to finally dry out, so I suggest leaving it open for a while otherwise you may trap water and get mold. You have to use the shampoo they sell, its suggested, and costly. I realized this product is just the Bissell spot cleaner, without the spot cleaner attachments, and with the dog grooming attachment. If I were to buy them i would get the spot cleaner, with the dog grooming attachment that way you can use one product for many different things, however I don't think I would but this product. Also this thing is LOUD! If you have a dog that is not used to the product they may get scared and such like ours did, I don't think our dog will ever truly get used to this, and would probably be easier just to bath her in the tub from now on to be honest. ~Thanx~ You can watch us fail while using the bark bath here: https://youtu.be/c85prL1aM9Q

BARKBATH

We received our Bathbark a few days ago but upon unpacking the box we found that there was no shampoo in the box. I did e-mail Bissell and they did send the shampoo in a timely manner free of charge. We snapped it together today and gave our small Yorkie (9 lb.) a bath. It worked quite well and only took a few minutes to give the dog a bath. With the suction he wasn't half as wet as getting out of the tub... It worked really well and I would recommend it to people who have larger dogs. But our little dag only took 5 minutes to do and it took longer that that to clean the machine... But it did wok well...

I love this product!

I love my bark bath, I got it in 2 days of ordering it and had it put together and bathed a 30 lb dog and 50 lb dog in less than 45 minutes, in my kitchen floor! Had to rebathe my 50 lb dog this weekend, she rolled in something stinky, had that done in no time and the stink was gone! It leaves their coat shiny and soft. The shampoo that came with it was the mulberry sent and it doesnt leave much of a sent but they dont smell like dog any more either. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it is alittle hard to bathe their legs and head, but I dont see how they could inproved on the design. I did get alittle wet from the dogs leaning on me and did squirt some water in the floor till I got the hang of it. My dogs didnt mind the noise, I left the machine itself on the cabinet and the rest of the hoses and stuff in the floor.

Worked great for our hard to wash dog

This was exactly what we needed and worked very well for us. Our dog is a 12 year old golden retriever/corgi who has a large body and short legs. He is also arthritic in his hips and doesn't really like being wet. So as he aged, he would squeal when we would try to lift him into a bath, and didn't like a hose bath in the garden. And being a rescue he wasn't good with us trying to sponge bath him either. But being a low rider with short legs, his belly is constantly dusty/dirty and so we needed a way to keep him. He does like being brushed, belly rubs and when we trim his fur on the floor, so we just treated this experience as part of that and it worked. We were a little worried about the vacuum type noise the machine made, but it seemed that as long as we made a fuss of the dog he didn't seem to mind it. The machine worked well and it was pretty shocking how dirty the water was that came out of the dogs fur. Certain areas are more difficult to do like the tail and legs, but worked great on his body which is mainly what need cleaning and he didn't seem upset at all with what was happening. The fur was more wet than we had realized so if you are doing it in the house in winter, laying down towels and protecting furniture from the dog shaking water off is necessary - it isn't near as much water as if a dog is fully immersed but it is wet. The shampoo has a nice scent and isn't meant to have a deep lather due to the machine but seems to do a good job cleaning. The scent isn't overly strong but the dog did smell clean with a very slight fruity/floral note. Our dog also has sensitive skin and the shampoo and process itself seemed fine for him. Overall we were really pleased because we had gotten to a point where it was really difficult to wash the dog and he needs it.

Not Bad

First time using bark bath AND it's not bad. System is a great concept but buy with caution. Almost gave it 2 stars but was pleasantly surprised: Two dogs: One of my dogs hates getting bath and the other one tolerates them well. Dog that doesn't mind regular bathes HATED it, kept running and was very scared; but it was only the first time. Dog that hates bathes, actually didn't mind the BarkBath. For this reason alone I upgraded the stars because normally it takes 20 minutes just to get my shar pei in the tub. Don't purchase if: Your dog is either afraid of or aggressive with the vacuum cleaner because that's essentially what this system is; it's a carpet cleaner for dogs to include the loud carpet cleaner noise. Also be weary if you have a long haired dog that sheds a lot, I had to stop twice to clean the vacuum head because it got clogged with dog hair. For me this wasn't a huge issue because it beats have to plunge the shower drain because it gets clogged. Continuing: The instructions says to bath dogs on flat surface: go outside to bath your dog because it gets a little messy and you will have to mop afterwards. Oh, this system comes with a shampoo for the dog, IDK yet if you can use regular shampoo but if you can't then you stuck purchasing the shampoo online most likely; something I'm not too thrilled about.

Love this product, I will definitely recommend it to friends

We loved the Barkbath. It is difficult to bathe a goldendoodle. Takes forever to dry them but with the Barkbath, although he was wet, he was not soaked like he is when we have put him in a bath. It is a great product and will definitely recommend it to friends and other dog owners.

The jury is still out

I have two dogs (45 and 80 lbs). PROS: Less water mess than having to hose them down. The dogs did not object to the noise or the activity. It is handy for a quick, but not thorough bath. I'll use it between regular bathes. CONS: The price: Less than $100 would be more reasonable. Too much leaking water from nozzle. I don't like the shape of the nozzle. It should fit the dog's body more ergonomically. The shampoo: I would prefer to use the quality shampoos that I currently use, that are better suited to my dogs' individual needs, and leave their fur shiny and silky.

Well built doggie bath

Product is a bit more cumbersome than I expected, I have a mini Schnauzer and machine is almost as big as she is. She ran when I first turned it on, which she does when I turn on my vacuum as well. The shampoo smelled wonderful and once we began washing her, she seemed to calm down a little. All in all, I think this is a good product and want to try it again soon. Barkbath is very well made, like all Bissell products I own. It does have a lot of hosing, but everything fits nicely in the mesh storage bag.

Not for dogs with thin, short fur.

T has thin fur on her chest and tummy. The nozzel doesn't glide across her thin fur. The suctions makes the nozzle stick to her chest and her tummy, which leaves her skin red and irritated. Bissell is strict with the 30 day policy, even if this is given/received as a gift. Make sure that you try it before the 30 days are up, even if your dogo isn't dirty. I made the mistake of not trying it until T was dirty, only to discover it doesn't work as advertised, and I was outside of the return window.
