I have heard many positive things about Hoka shoes but previously haven’t been able to order them from Sam’s Club as they had sold out in my size. I was excited to see these shoes as I loved the orange color way, the traction looked great for hiking in Colorado and they had Vibram soles. I went by the size chart and ordered an 8 based on the European sizing of 40. I always wear a 40 in other brands. I tend to buy based on European sizing chart as it typically seems more accurate but they didn’t fit. I returned the first pair and order a second pair in an 8.5 but they still didn’t work for me. This time they did fit length and width-wise, but the back of the shoe irritates an old Achilles tendon injury. This is a “me” problem, which is why I’m still rating the shoe 4 stars. I’m very disappointed as I really love the look, features and price of the shoe but this style just won’t work for me. If anyone has an old Achilles injury, be mindful that these might be very painful to wear.
