High Quality Product

I just bought the 11K generator to use as a portable whole house unit. I am very happy about the quality of the product. It is very powerful and very quite. The maintenance is very easy due to the excellent engineering of the product. I would recommend it.

Significant update/Milton storm use/Model #201407

Still most likely the best generator for the money. See engineering suggestions below. The battery is the weak link so far. I have to jump start it every time as a trickle charge does not work to keep the battery charged. Pull start is almost impossible with this undersized battery (This battery is too small for this unit). Getting up in the dark with no power is a showstopper for most portable generator use. Rain is also a showstopper as this cannot be in your garage or even the garage door open if connected to the house. I use my yard trailer to cover the electronics panel and not block the exhaust, but this is very ugly to do in the dark when it is raining cats and dogs sideways. Tents will not work in a hurricane. Having a permanent generator shed has its own problems! You have to leave a door open on the shed to prevent Co2 shutdown and you still need to start the beast in the dark behind a wall. I am researching the possibility of having a lightweight temporary shed to just drag out before a storm and put in in front of or near the garage door. So, we wait until daylight to be safe on all the setups. Side note is to run this in normal mode and not eco. Engineering suggestions: 1. Larger battery 2. Mount the electronic module on the exterior panel from the outside 3. Fix the drain and fill issues to prevent drain back under the unit (most likely properly fitting hoses and the right funnel will work) 4. Fuel filter 5. Oil filter

Impressed with initial experience

Just completed the one-hour initial break-in, I'm impressed with how quiet and easy to operate / service this generator has been so far! A significant improvement over my previous noisy open frame. Will put another hour on the engine before connecting the house and giving the inverter a proper load test.

Whole house backup power

We run a pet boarding business in SoCal and having power at all times is extremely important as some animals need heat or lightning. We decided to purchase model 201407 as a backup power source for our home. So far the generator has worked perfectly. Easy to get setup and break in. This is our first generator and we have been really impressed with the craftsmanship. The only thing that isn't a big deal at all is adding oil could be a tad bit more convenient. But as I said not a big deal at all.

Great so far. Feels sturdy and robust.

Purchased a few weeks ago. Arrived quickly and without any damage. Started right up and still in break in period. No issues yet. The oil fill is slightly too small, and overflows very easily. The air filter is easily serviceable. No issue taking on 3500 watts on break in, barely above idle. Noise level is on par with my 4500 Westinghouse inverter.

I would buy this product again

Generator has nice features and looks like it will work well although I have not used it yet. One complaint I do have is a couple of the fasteners that hold the side panels on were stripped when I removed it from the box. There was also a loose bolt that I have not figured out where it goes laying in the frame of the generator. This generator looks nice and has nice features only time will tell if it holds up.

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that some bolts were stripped during assembly. If you haven't already, please reach out to our support team at 1-877-338-0999, email us at support@cpeauto.com, or use the live chat feature on our website. We’d be happy to send you the correct bolts to resolve this issue. Regarding the loose bolt you found in the frame, it may be one of the bolts from the support brackets that are typically removed during unpacking. These bolts are not needed for operation, so there’s no need to worry about reattaching them. However, if you’re still unsure, feel free to send us images of the part in question, and our support team will assist you further.

This is an amazing product

I've owned the smaller open frame inverter, and still do. After having it for 3 years with zero issues I purchased this one. Wow is all you can say. Super quiet for this large of an inverter. With Champion inverter/generators you can't go wrong. Don't spend 3 times as much on others. Also wow 3 year warranty. Try that with other brands.

Great inverter generator at a great price!!!

Last November, we experienced an unusual windstorm coming from the east instead of the usual south, which led to widespread power outages, including in our area. Our power was out for two days. As soon as the outage began, I purchased 30 lbs of dry ice to keep our refrigerators cold. It lasted a day, but when I tried to get more the next day, every store was sold out—apparently, fast-food places had the same idea, and dry ice was unavailable even two hours away. To save our food, I took everything to my brother-in-law’s place, salvaging most of it. After that ordeal, I vowed it wouldn’t happen again. I called an electrician and had a 200-amp panel installed along with a 50-amp connection and a generator lockout kit. Then, I began searching for a reliable inverter generator to power the whole house. After extensive research, I decided on the Champion 201407, and I’m so glad I did. Just before Christmas, another outage hit when someone crashed into a power pole. The estimated repair time was 24 hours. Within 15 minutes of the power going out, I had the generator set up and running. It powered almost the entire house—everything except the electric range—and ran quietly. I used a 30-foot cord and placed it downstairs in the backyard, so it was barely noticeable. I couldn’t be happier with this generator. It’s reliable, quiet, and gives me confidence that I’m prepared for future outages.

Excellent machine

Excellent machine. Quiet, powerful, and easy to operate. Fast delivery, it came 10 days earlier than expected. This is my fourth Champion Generator, and they have all been great. I wish labels were provide for changing the boned neutral to floating neutral or vice versa.

Update to outstanding generator

Oil fill issue is solved with a smaller diameter rubber hose attacked to the funnel. If you plan on running alternating heavy loads place the unit in normal mode and not eco! Eco (on mine only is being replaced) since it won't ramp up for load changes. This is one fine quality generator. As Willie Wonda said, "hope it lasts!" Change you oil often! I did it at the 1, 3, and 5 hour points for removal of initial break in materials (use 10W40 synthetic in hot climates). This unit does not consume oil so far and works fine. I could not find a fuel filter but there is an easy drain tube for the fuel tank. Also, the battery can be removed by pulling down on the battery strap and detaching it (stretchy material). Battery has standard terminals under the protective covers. My quick connect trickle charger is wired different for some reason so I had to use the standard battery terminals. Be careful if you need to cover this in the rain. The CO2 sensor will shut the unit down. Do not cover the exhaust side with anything. My lawn trailer worked for this function. Be sure to shelter all the electronic panels as well as the top of the unit. I tested this unit with the 30 and 50 amp connections and all both worked fine. Gas gage was stuck at first but when I filled the tank it worked normally. Important on draining oil!!!!!! Put a rag behind a funnel and push the funnel all the way up against the back of the drain plug against the case. Otherwise, you will get drain back towards the end of the drain cycle across the entire bottom of the engine.
