OE Tire on First Generation Audi Q7s

Audi still uses a Pirelli Scorpion tire on the new Q7's too, but it's a different 'eco' version of the tire called the Verde. When you see Zero in the name on a Pirelli tire, that means the tire is designed for higher performance/better driving dynamics. It is a very responsive tire and communicates well. The tires are also surprisingly stable driving on snow w/ 30k miles on them...props to both Audi and Pirelli here; it's a heavy SUV. This tire is an older design that they've tweaked a bit and siped better over the years, and at higher pressures required by my heavy vehicle, it can be a bit 'boingy' over hard edged bumps and expansion joints. This is definitely the performance version, and I've enjoyed the crispness and immediacy it brings to the steering response and braking efforts. I'd buy them again, as they have held up very well, and help make the SUV drive like it is a much smaller and sportier vehicle than it is. I've also driven this same car with other tire brands on it that were 'meh' so far as road manners and driving feel go, so I'm thankful I get to drive on these Pirelli Zero's every day rather than the 'meh' grand touring type tires (on our other car) that cost a fair amount more than this set does, but are really damp and lack feedback. There are some really great newer designs/compounds out there now, including the brand new design of the Pirelli Scorpion A/S 3, which is getting great reviews, but this is still a really good 'drivers' tire, and IMHO a very good value in this size too...at least at Sam's Club. ;)
