If you're familiar with The Tattooed Chef, then you know that these items are made with the freshest ingredients in either their plant southeast of Rome, or one in California. As with many of their items, The Tattooed Chef turned the clock back to ancient times where pizza first originated. Soldiers would actually bake pizza crusts on their battle shields and top them with fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil and a cheese base.

Why a White Sauce You Might Ask?

Oddly enough, the first Italian pizzas did not have a red sauce until tomatoes were imported to Naples (from America) in the 16th century. So, you’re about to try an authentic white sauce that dates back to the 1st Century BC (without the battle shield). First, the renowned cauliflower crust is baked to perfection. Then, it's topped with a creamy garlic sauce, spinach and a medley of three different cheeses that pair quite well with all of the other ingredients. 

Recently, in the media, some chefs and food editors have recommended the addition of white sauce pizza to appetizer offerings. So, feel free to slice this up and serve it as a precursor to your salad or main meal. Then again, it can be a meal in itself. Dig into something that in some senses is “old” and then again, “on-trend” for your home dining or entertaining events.
