Needed small portable generator to run fans at gun range. Checked out Honda generators, but cheapest was $800 for the 1000 model. Read the reviews about this one online at Sam's Club, where many buyers compared it to the Honda generator and indicated they were pleased with it.  I got lucky and bought this 2300 model on a recent Sam's Club online sale for half the price of the Honda 1000.  It is very quiet, runs a long time on a gallon of gas, and does exactly what we wanted. It has been a lifesaver during the summer heat!

Quiet & Efficient!

We live full time in our RV in a full hookup park, so I bought this generator for winter power backup. Hopefully it will never be put into use.

We are now living at 5,000 ft elevation so I didn't expect the generator to have the full 1,800 watts output. Generally, generators lose 2-3% of their output power per 1,000 feet elevation which lowers the expected output of this generator from 1,800 watts to be as low as 1,530 watts.

This is the breakin and output tests I gave the generator:
After adding fuel and oil, I started the generator (started easily) and ran it for about 20 minutes at idle and then drained the oil. After reading breakins from readers of other Chinese manufactured generators, I expected to find metal shavings and dust in the drained oil. There was neither in the drained oil, and only slightly discolored.

I then refilled the oil and ran a load test. First I ran the generator with a load of 750 watts for 20 minutes, then increased to load to 1,500 watts for 30 minutes without any problems. I then increased the load to 1,875 watts (75 over rated output) for 15 minutes. The load indicator showed full load but the overload indicator did not come on. I then connected the generator to my RV and it handled the full load (excluding the AC) at about 40% capacity, BTW I have an electric refrigerator and an electric freezer in my RV.

I'm amazed that the generator was able to supply 100% load at 5,000 ft elevation. Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase.

The only con is the noise. The noise level is rated at 25% load and the noise is acceptable at that load, but at full load it is very noisy. In a crowded RV park it would probably generate complaints if running at full load.

Exceeded my expectations

I purchased this recently and the pricing was very good compared to many others in the same range of peak power.  I originally had a higher peak power unit but decided to return that and purchase two of the A-IPower SUA2300i's for several reasons.  The flexibility of having the power of two of these when connected together is excellent.  This gives me the flexibility to just use one if needed for lower power needs.  The noise level of these are very good at 52dBA.  In the low power mode, it is almost whisper quiet.  It does get louder under load but that is expected.  The control panel has many features that others don't have.   There are LED level meters for the fuel level and power load that is demanded.  Starting is extremely reliable and takes only one pull.  Access to the fuel and oil changes are very convenient.   The retractable handle gives the user really good leverage to lift and move the inverter/gen using the rear wheels.  Included with the generator is the cable used to gang two of them together.  It's great not to have to pay for that accessory.  Another reason the noise level is important is that during a power outage, it's best that the neighbors or anyone else do not know you are running one.  Pricing of these were alse very good because I could have easily paid hundreds more through another store.

Great Features and Value

I have used this unit now for 5 hours now ( 4 at 90% full load to "break it in" and test for load capability) and find it lives up to my expectations. It WILL carry "steady state" rated load ( compensated for altitude) an does so with reserve.  The unit is very easy to start.  I also like features like the retractable portage handle.  Over all the unit is very well laid out.  There are a few drawbacks:  The owners manual appears to be for an older design unit.   The digital display is hard to see in daylight and impossible in the sun. It does appear to have accurate readings.  Its not as quiet as I expected but still acceptable...machinery is machinery and without a lot of additional sound proofing will make noise. Like most of the newer inverter units, while it will handle a short reasonable overload, it will not carry an overload like a conventional rotating field constant speed generator....but it does work at lower "starting loads" .  I have not put an oscilloscope on it yet so not sure how close to a pure sine wave the output is.  It will not start my small DeWalt portable compressor and not sure if that is electronic or just not strong  enough to carry the starting load even with "head pressure" at 0 PSI.  Overall I am well pleased with the quality and the performance especially for the price I was able to pay for it.  Frankly the price was the deciding factor to this initial purchase.  I have not compared it to the "name brand guys" but feel its a good unit and would not be surprised if it did equal much more expensive units without paying for the name....Yes I would recommend it to others if they understood its limitations.( which I suspect other brands  would have also)   Jerry

Nice unit

I have always wanted a small Honda but didn't want to spend so many $$$. This little generator is loaded with features i have never seen. It always starts on 1st or 2nd pull. I'm thinking about buying another one for a backup or to hook up parallel for more wattage if needed.

Seems high quality and super quite

I selected this brand of generator based on its features. I agree with Consumer's Report that a fuel gauge is important. The fuel gauge on this unit is very helpful. The digital display of output voltage is nice. I like the pull-out handle and the wheels for easier movement. So far, the unit has started easily. The labels are clear and useful. The only concern I have, so far, is the "missing" of the engine when running at slow speeds. When the load demand increases to high I don't notice much misfiring. I still hold in reserve my judgement about the longevity and durability but my limited use of the generator leaves me satisfied to this 
point.

Helpful features sold me on this generator.

I haven't had the chance to do a full evaluation of the unit yet as the front display panel is inoperable right out of the box (reason for 3 stars). On the plus side, customer service seems to be good and they offered to send a new panel to me or have me return the unit so they could do it. It started on the second pull and I tested it with my refrigerator (which is the main concern I had during a power outage), and it performed fine. I also believe the "Ultra-Quiet" description is a bit of a stretch. It's as loud as a lawn mower. Personally that doesn't fall under "Ultra Quiet" in my opinion. Nice retractable handle to pull it along. Good price overall and the an Inverter Generator is a must have if you are powering sensitive household items due to it's clean power.

Display was faulty right out of the box.

It’s okay, not great.  Did a slow break in prior to putting any load.  Spark plug gap was way off right out of the box. Runs rough. Choke start was necessary after running for several hours and only stopped to refuel. Think I could have spent $400 better elsewhere.

Okay, not great

It looked good and had all the best features and at the sale price was 1/4 the price of the Honda. When it arrived there was no damage to the box but when I opened it the cover was loose and the plastic piece under the oil filler was broken. It looked like it didn't fit properly and must have happened at the factory . Also the muffler exhaust did not line up with the hole in the rear guard. I decided I could live with that so I put in non-ethanol gas but I could never get it to start. Even tried starting fluid but no luck. Checked everything in the manual and called the number in the instructions. Technical support did call me back 5 days later after I had returned it. I think that it would have been a great unit if it had worked. I have 2 other generators but wanted a small one for the camper. I wasted several hours on this thing.
   The good part of the story is that Sams took it back at the store with no hassle (the nearest store is 100 miles from my home).

Never got it to start

Bought three for me, mom, & son (one each). First one fuel gauge didn't work. Second wouldn't choose a consistent RPM under light load. Didn't mess with the third after 100% error rate with first two. Returned all three and have purchased predator 3500. Cost twice as much, but a generator that doesn't work isn't going to be helpful when a hurricane rolls in.
