Excellent pre-cooked ham.  Not overly salty.  Easily sliceable.

Excellent ham.

We have always bought HF hams for over 30 years; and they're good, at $1.29 to $1.49 per pound.  This Christmas the price was $2.29 per pound, and I said no way am I paying that much.   I searched to find which brand hams are available in our area and found the Smithfield Smoked Pit Ham at 2.98 per pound with raving reviews, so thought I would try it (was only $ 8.40 extra for a 12 lb ham vs the HF Ham)  Everyone raved how wonderful this ham tasted with a perfectly balanced smoked flavor and moist slices.  The Smithfield Smoked Pit Ham will be our Easter and Christmas Ham from this time forward.   Our family Highly Recommends it!

Outstanding Flavor!

On the advie of our local Sam' Club meat man we bought this Pit ham. Never heard of it before. Got on the Internet and did some looking around and went back and bought it for Easter diner. We had 30 people over and everyone could not believe how great looking and tasting it was. Getting another one in a few weeks for the grandsons Christening. Even at a little over $3.00 a pound is worth every penny.

Love this ham

Disappointed this time. I have bought Smithfield hams before at Sams and have been much more pleased. This time, after slicing it in half I immediately noticed the marbled fat throughout. In the past only the edge contained fat that could easily be trimmed off — not this one. My only solution to lessen the fat is to slice and fry each piece. I'm not as satisfied with the flavor this time either - rather bland.

I am so disappointed that Sams no longer sells this product. I bought this ham year round. So very disappointed… Please bring the Smithfield Boneless Pit Ham back!

Disappointed

I bought this for Thanksgiving.  It was spendy so I assumed it'd be good--it looked good on the outside?  But after cooking, when I sliced it I immediately knew it was going to be blubbery.  It's like it's been pressed and rolled, kind of like a bad chicken nugget.  I would NEVER buy this again!  I'm going back to my tried and true Cloverdale teardrop ham.
