Rubbermaid Takealongs 16-Piece Food Storage and Party Platter Set

I got this on a good sale. It has gone up $10 since I ordered it this week, $5 more than the list price at time of order. While it's a neat set, I think that is just too much. That said, the best part of this set is the party platter. Even the lid is well-constructed and fits well. I use the 4-cup low and long containers most often for leftovers and love the dark sage green lids(so tired of the red!), as they fit and stack well in the fridge. I like to take cookies to gatherings as a hosting gift, and the larger containers are great for that. I don't mind leaving them as part of the gift that way, and these are a variety of nice sizes for different amounts of goods. Even the box might make a reusable gift box if you don't mind the print on the outside and if it's not mangled in shipping. It's a great size of box for medium-to-large gifts. These are standard, on-the-wimpy-side microwave containers, so don't expect them to last all that long in regular use in your kitchen. They will peel when used with fats that get hot in the microwave. They could flex under heavy loads, so use both hands to carry them, especially with warmer foods. Their longer length makes those issues more prominent than with shorter, taller containers. They can even melt in areas where fats gather and get very hot during reheating - I know from sad experience! Overall, this is a fairly good set depending on your use and intent. Just watch for a good price and set your expectations in the right place.
