What’s In It?
Purina ONE SmartBlend True Instinct Natural with Real Turkey and Venison Adult Dry Dog Food uses turkey as its primary ingredient, shortly followed by naturally preserved beef fat, chicken meal, a variety of whole grains, including wheat and venison, of which the turkey and chicken are excellent sources of glucosamine.
What are the Added Vitamins and Minerals?
Because your dogs need vitamins just like you, beneficial vitamins and minerals are built into this food. Vitamin A, all of the B vitamins, vitamin D3, vitamin E, and vitamin K are all on the ingredient list. Minerals added include calcium iodate, copper sulfate, ferrous sulfate and manganese sulfate (iron supplements), sodium selenite (essential for normal cell function), and zinc sulfate, which is necessary for growth and the health of body tissues.
Why Is Glucosamine Important?
Glucosamine is a natural substance in your dogs, found densely in healthy cartilage. It produces glycosaminoglycan, which helps form and repair body tissues like cartilage. As your dog ages, glucosamine's natural production slows, resulting in slow repair processes, leading to joint pain and stiffness. Wear and tear on your dog's joints, combined with the slowed repair of cartilage, leads to arthritis development. The good news is that providing glucosamine supplements for dogs can help rebuild cartilage, restoring your dogs’ joint function and activity levels.
Adult Dog Feeding Instructions: The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon an adult dog's average nutritional needs with a normal activity level (using a standard 8 oz/250ml measuring cup, which contains approximately 92g of Purina ONE). Factors such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age, and whether the dog is spayed or neutered will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition. The pet experts at Purina have provided the feeding amounts indicated as a starting point. If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly. To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight regularly, ensure that his ribs are easily felt, and the waist is visible when viewed from above. Maintaining an ideal body condition can impact your dog's lifelong health. It's Not for All Dogs: Purina ONE True Instinct formula is specifically formulated for adult dogs. If you have a puppy, or a pregnant or nursing dog, feed Purina ONE SmartBlend Healthy Puppy Formula. Fresh Water, Proper Diet & Veterinary Care: Be sure to provide fresh water in a clean container for your dog daily. Proper diet, exercise, and veterinary care are the best ways to keep your dog healthy. If your dog hasn't had a check-up in the past year, please make an appointment today.
