Can You Use Neosporin Original Ointment on Dermatitis?
Neosporin Original Ointment – for Home or on the Go is for use on cuts, scrapes and burns. The product is not to treat skin conditions such as dermatitis. You should consult your doctor for more information on what products can treat this condition and how often to apply them.
How Often Do You Need to Apply First Aid Antibiotic Ointment?
Before applying, always clean the wound with soap and warm water. After cleansing, apply bacitracin first aid antibiotic ointment to the wound one to three times a day while it heals. A small cut should fully recover within seven days. Apply only a small amount at a time.
You can apply original ointment by Neosporin on open wounds like cuts and scrapes. However, avoid putting on broken skin.
Can You Use Neosporin Ointment on Pets?
It is always best to ask your veterinarian before using antibiotic ointment for cuts on pets. However, if you are covering the wound, it may be okay to use on minor cuts for up to four days. If you are concerned that your pet will lick or ingest the antibiotic ointment during use, do not apply. Ingestion of this ointment could make your pet ill.
Are There Any Known Drug Interactions for Neosporin Antibiotic Ointment?
At this time, there are no known drug interactions between Neosporin and other prescription or over-the-counter medications. However, if you are allergic to Neosporin - for Home or On the Go, or any of its ingredients, do not use. If Neosporin causes a reaction such as painful swelling, redness, or itching at the application site, stop using and contact your doctor.
