I really like purchasing chicken thighs packaged like this. No bones or skin to deal with. There's about 4 to 6 thighs in each individual packet. This lets you bake one and freeze the rest. Since the packets easily detach, you can take one or more out to bake and leave the rest in the freezer. This is very convenient.

Convenient!

These were great for several dishes but our favorite is fajitas or chicken fried rice. This meat is tender and not a whole lot of trimming to do. The vacuum seal makes it convenient to freeze if you're not going to use both packages.

Tender fajitas and flavorful fried rice!

I buy this nearly every time I go to Sam's Club.  Then I take it home, season and cook in the oven, then divide between 2 or 3 containers.  That way I have cooked chicken ready for a number of dishes that I make regularly.  This chicken is great for that application.  It is boneless and skinless, and trimmed well enough.  The thighs are rather small, but that's not a concern for me.

I keep on buying this, so it must be good.

The price  is great and the smaller packaging makes it nice for  people who have to repackage those large volume packs, however you can't see the chicken and sometimes we've gotten packs with a giant thigh and a micromini thigh. That makes for a very interesting dinner for 2.

Thighs

Weight is based on the whole package, not just the weight of the chicken meat. I use these chicken breast in weight specific recipes every week and the weight is never correct. The chicken is packaged offsite of the stores and then when the stores receive the packages they weigh the package. That is the weight the price is based on. Next time you buy these prepackaged chicken verify this for yourself.

Weight is incorrect

The chicken is of good quality but the package contains a large pad of water and the chicken has a lot of fat that needs to be trimmed. Sam's Club, you can do better.

Paying for extra water and fat

I don't like this new packaging of the chicken. I prefer the bigger packages where I can count out how many I'm gonna have in a meal and how much I'm really getting for my money. This new company they're using you can't tell how many pieces are in the package so you always have to thaw out two packages.

New chicken packaging

Whatever brand Sam's used to carry that were packaged in the long trays were great.  The Member's Mark (MM) version really misses the mark.  The thighs are quite small and vary in size, some being more like remnants or scraps, some on the bottom even still had the skin on, many little chunks/nuggets in the package, etc.  EXTREMELY disappointed.  Sam's needs to quit replacing brands they used to carry with MM.  We love almost all of the MM products, but some are absolutely not nearly as good (the battered cod is another clunker).  We also really resent not having the option of brands over MM.  We're now paying a bit more for chicken thighs at Winco, but they are the quality that Sam's USED to carry before they started soving MM products down our throats.  We're finding ourselves buying more and more products at other places now.  Very sad.

Very disappointing

I absolutely HATE these new packages!!!
They are difficult to open with scissors and not have chicken juice go everywhere--yay germs! The 4 "pockets" are also glued together so it stays folded together. Probably greay for Sam's not so much for custimers.

HATE THE PACKAGE

I have always enjoyed this product for grilling, but the new packaging is horrible.  The perforations do not separate, the "two in every pack" philosophy has typically come out one large/one petite, the small one being almost unusable and separating packages rips them open because of the adhesive.  

The quality control has also been awful.  I have had multiple packs that have extra fat, ribs and tail pieces.   There is also SIGNIFICANTLY more water saturation in the package as well.   I understand the motive and environmental concern by eliminating styrofoam, but the value of this purchase has been completely diminished by the packaging, increased fluids and poor quality of product.  It's like I'm paying $2.50 a pound for what is left after all the waste.  I think corporate should evaluate a few bags at random and investigate what is happening on the production end, as both quality and quantity is being impacted.  I would have given them 5 stars before the package change.  Now I want to buy my thighs elsewhere, where I can see what I am getting.
