This is the best coconut cake I have ever bought from a store. It was moist, plenty of coconut with a white buttercream frosting. I would definitely buy this cake again. It is enough for a large crown.  It also froze well and tasted just as good and fresh when thawed.

If you love coconut cake....

Sam's has one of the best bakeries! This cake was soft, fresh and absolutely delicious! The coconut cream was layered in the cake and the coconut frosting was sweet but not overly sweet

This cake is really good. And moist and coconut. I was sad when you quite making it about 5 years ago. And do happy it came back. If you love coconut this is yummy!!

Cuckoo for Coconut

Very disappointed with the taste. Thick frosting on top and sides are super sweet but there is hardly any frosting between layers. Balance that out and the cake would be much better. Even better is make with fruity filling such as pineapple, lemon or strawberry would make the coconut cake a must have!!

Coconut Cake

We have been purchasing Sams coconut cakes for years, and this was a big disappointment to us. While the cake was good, It was not nearly as good as it had been in the past. Please return to your old recipe.

Not nearly as good as before

We have eaten this cake for Spring events before but the quality seemed poorer this year.  There wasn't any icing between the layers giving the cake a dry taste.  Disappointing since the cake is rather expensive.

Disappointed

Cake looked great, coconut flakes were great and cake was moist. But there was a bad aftertaste. I am not sure of it was the icing or the coconut cream layer, but it was not good.

Awful. Unfortunately, this was the worst cake I've ever tasted. It smelled like coconut, but it tasted like metal and artificial sweetener and flavoring. No real coconut flavor at all. The icing was a weird gummy substance that wasn't regular icing or whipped icing, but some sort of mess in between. Just plain awful. Save your $18 and avoid this cake.

Awful cake

The cake was too dry inside and the layers in between the tiers were too sweet and tasted artificial. A group of 4 couldn't finish a third of it. In the end, we had to threw away the rest. This is the very first time in my life where I had to throw away any bakery item purely because of the awful taste... I will never, ever buy this cake or recommend it to anyone, even to my worst enemy.

Had to Throw it Away

Looked yummy, tasted so sweet your teeth hurt. Frosting was grainy and way too artificial tasting. Purchase for a party and everyone took a slice but ate one or two bites. Bummed as its hard to find a non-chocolate or non-fake fruit dessert.
