About this item

Maier's Italian-Style Bread will turn a simple sandwich into something more. Use this premium bread for tasty lunches, to cook up some delicious French toast, or for Grandma's stuffing recipe at Thanksgiving. Make garlic bread or Parmesan bread, or enjoy this enriched bread toasted with a little olive oil. If you want some extra crispness and a great aroma, try removing it from the packaging and heating the loaf for 3 to 5 minutes in the oven at 300°F.

What Is Italian-Style Bread?

Traditionally, Italian bread is crusty, yeast-raised bread, unsweetened and made without shortening. It's baked in long, thick loaves and has tapered ends. Maier's Italian-Style Bread combines the size and shape of traditional Italian bread with convenience. As delicious as fresh-baked bread from a small bakery or a chef, Maier's fresh Italian bread comes pre-sliced, like most commercial breads made and sold in the United States. Get the flavor of bakery bread with the convenience you've come to expect from the grocery store.

History of Maier's Bakery

Headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania, Maier's Bakery was founded in 1908 by Andrew Maier, who was born in Germany before settling in Berk County, Pennsylvania. The bakery was run by a family business for nine decades, acquiring a reputation for high-quality products. The business was purchased in 1998 by Stroehman Bakeries and later acquired by Bimbo Bakeries USA, which produces a variety of baked goods.
