Hormel Black Label Applewood Bacon is thick-cut bacon, but what exactly does that mean? Standard bacon is usually sliced very thin: about 1/16th of an inch. Thick-cut bacon, like this Applewood bacon, provides a much thicker cut that's about twice the size of standard-cut bacon. The thicker shape of the Black Label bacon allows it to better hold its shape while cooking, instead of becoming limp and shriveled up like some of the thinly sliced bacon. Because it holds its shape better, this cut of bacon is ideal for being chopped up for pasta, soups, salads and sandwiches.
